Overview

Watch a flamenco show in a Sacromonte cave in Granada, and then explore the UNESCO World Heritage-listed neighborhood of Albaicin on an evening walking tour. Inside an authentic flamenco joint Cuevas Los Tarantos sit back and relax with a drink, or perhaps upgrade to include a 3-course dinner, while watching a regional type of flamenco known as zambra. Before returning to your hotel, stroll around Albaicin with a guide and see unforgettable views of the Alhambra palace complex, illuminated by night.

Know More about this tour

After pickup from your central Granada hotel, head to the Sacromonte area of the city famous for its inhabited caves carved out of the soft rock on the slopes of Cerro de San Miguel. Originally built and lived in by Spanish gypsies (or gitanos as theyre known locally), the caves became popular places for the community to meet up, dance and be merry.

The best caves to visit are those dedicated to zambra a type of flamenco dancing thats firmly rooted in Sacromonte and luckily, youll visit one such cave. Hop off your minibus and head inside Cuevas Los Tarantos to see one of the areas best live zambra shows! Before the 1-hour performance starts, your guide will fetch you a drink and talk to you briefly about flamenco in the Andalusia region. Alternatively, upgrade and include a 3-course dinner to enjoy while the performance takes place. Please see Itinerary for sample menus.

Loosely translated as party in Arabic, zambra dates back to the 15th century when it was performed by the Moriscos (Muslims who converted to Christianity) during Moorish celebrations, hence the Arabic feel to the dance. The gypsies who later migrated to Spain identified themselves with the music, and the tradition carried through right up til the present day. Sit back and watch the extravagant dance moves (similar to belly dancing) paired with the fast-paced music!

After the performance, return to your minibus and head into the hills for a 45-minute walking tour around the UNESCO World Heritage-listed district of Albaicin. Also known as Albayzn, the neighborhood is Granadas oldest Muslim quarter with a labyrinth of narrow cobblestone streets and delightful Moorish architecture. Soak up the ambience with your guide, and then head to Mirador San Nicols to enjoy unforgettable views of Alhambra Palace on La Sabica Hill before returning to your hotel.

The Flamenco was excellent but the walking tour did not happen. The guide hopped on the minibus spoke to the Spanish people on it and then we was driven back to our pick up points

The show and dinner were fantastic.
We were staying very close to the place but still had to walk to a pick up place for the tour bus which was late and a bit confusing.
Afterward we chose not to do the walking tour as we already were in the neighborhood.

This tour was very disorganized. We started out having a hard time figuring out where to meet the bus. We were told that we would do the Tour of Albaicin after the Flamenco show but were never told why. We were taken to the Flamenco show and shuffled into one of the caves which was kind of cool but we sat in super uncomfortable chairs and waited a good 45 min. for the show to start. This is when we should have been on the walking tour. I'm pretty picky bc I am an ex dancer but I only enjoyed the male dancer. He was outstanding. I would give him 5 stars. We were given our one drink and when we asked if we could buy another one they said no and ignored us for the rest of the show. The show is quite long and we were taken out of the restaurant after and sat on the bus for another 30 min. It was quite cold and getting late. Everyone wanted to go back to their hotels. They told us if we wanted to do the walking tour it would take 30 min.or they would take us back. It was dark so we wanted to go back to the hotel. They shuffled us to another bus and we sat there for 30-45 min and they never took us anywhere and eventually the others got back on the bus with us???? It was a mess. :

Great show in picturesque cave. Also enjoyed the brief walking tour where we could see the Alhambra lit up at night, as well as the city below. The minibus pick up and return made everything easy. The only thing I would not particularly recommend was the dinner. It was okay, but we would have had better seats if we were not stuck behind a table. Service was very good.
