Know More about this tour

Your walking tour starts in central Hobart, where you'll meet your guide and begin your experience with a historical walk that provides an introduction to Hobart's history and an orientation of the city today.

See heritage-listed buildings and hear stories of early characters and issues that were major influences during the settlement of Hobart. Then head to Battery point, one of Tasmania's most authentic ways to step back in time. Pass by beautiful buildings made of sandstone, some dating back almost 180 years, and see the old sandstone warehouses of Salamanca that have been converted into offices, galleries, and restaurants. The popular Salamanca market is open on Saturdays and is a must-see if your trip is timed right.

Your tour ends in the Salamanca area, where you are free to continue exploring on your own.

Wonderful walking tour and Diane was a very knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide. A great way to get your bearings and learn about Hobart’s history from a local.

One of the best walking tours I have done. Guide was extremely knowledgeable. Could not recommend more highly. History and architecture of Hobart were fascinating.

We did the 3 hour tour with Dianne who is very engaging and knowledgeable, she really added a lot of flavour to the tour. This walk is great for those who want to learn more about the history of Hobart, we stop off at (and go into) many places you wouldn't normally spot yourself. It was a tour that gave us many insights to Hobart we didn't actually know much about including the often brutal and harsh environment for those who came to the area as convicts, officers and families.

A most interesting tour with a friendly and knowledgeable guide. I learnt a lot despite already having a basic knowledge of Hobart's history. Would thoroughly recommend to tourists and locals.

I had a wonderful tour with Gemma as my guide. She was thorough and informative. Gemma knew all the hidden treasures that I would have missed had I walked around the area myself. Definitely worthwhile doing this tour early on when you first visit Hobart.

Seeing inside buildings that the public would not normally expect to get access to. Also the information that accompanied the visits.
