Know More about this tour

The Great wall of china was originally built more than 2,000 years ago to ward off Hun intruders from the north. Today, the wall is considered one of the New Seven Wonders of the World and makes a great Beijing day trip.

You'll travel by air-conditioned minivan to the less-touristy Mutianyu section of the Great wall of china, located 56 miles (90 kilometers) from Beijing. This section of the Great Wall offers unparalleled views from the Ming Dynasty watchtowers. Walk at your own pace as you traverse the wall to the watchtowers, becoming immersed in the history and myths told by your local guide. Along the way, you will have great views and photo opportunities of the wall snaking through the beautiful countryside. You can choose to descend the Great Wall by toboggan or take the scenic cable car.

Scaling the Great Wall will leave you with an appetite.Youll get the opportunity to try some Chinese specialty dishes as you enjoy a traditional lunch served in a nearby local village. You'll return to Beijing after lunch.

We went on this tour on 27.12. Initially we were not that excited about the 7am departure but it ended up being amazing! We were the first people on the wall on that day and managed to get heaps of photos of an empty wall. Lily was our guide and she was excellent, spoke great english and had lots of interesting facts and information. The bus trip took around 90 minutes and then Lily organised the tickets, we took the chairlift up to the top (be aware this costs extra, I think 100 CNY pp.) We then had two hours to explore the wall. To get back down I would recommend the slide/toboggan, it was lots of fun! Afterwards we went to lunch at a famous local restaurant, the food was fantastic and could accommodate dietary restrictions. We were back in the city by around 3pm so could still have the afternoon free. Would highly recommend!

Tour guide was good although didn't give a ton of information, loved having almost 2.5 hours at the wall and taking the toboggan down. Also the lunch was great and we were back in the city center by 3:30pm to be able to do other things!

My guide Joyce made my experience of the Great Wall knowledgeable and skilled. Joyce had knowledge of everything about the structure the building of the wall. This tour was a delight even though it was two of on this tour we had the best time ever Joyce did a hell of a good job she's the best at what she does.

We booked this tour to the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall very easily through Viator. The hotel where we met the mini-bus to take the tour was centrally located in Beijing, and although it was quite early, we were glad to be setting off to the Great Wall early to avoid rush hour traffic. Our guide Lucy could not have been more gracious. She provided lots of interesting information about the history of the Great Wall on our morning drive. Once we arrived, Lucy helped us plan our time on the Wall. We quickly realized it takes longer than you think to walk this section of the Wall, as there are parts that are very steep with lots of stairs. But, just being on the Wall is magnificent. The views here are breathtaking! We would absolutely recommend visiting this section of the Wall, which we read was the best restored section and not crowded (true on both fronts). Afterwards, our guide walked us down the hill to the town below the Wall, where we enjoyed a delicious lunch of so many Chinese dishes! It was great! Thank you Lucy for a wonderful day!

This was a great tour and I would highly recommend booking this if you’re coming to Beijing to see the Great Wall. Andy our tour guide was fantastic, he explained the history of the wall very well and was very entertaining. We were also given time to walk the wall freely and had a spectacular lunch to end the day. Nothing felt rushed, we definitely got as much time needed at the Wall as we hoped, thank you so much for a perfect day we will never forget.

Andy our guide was a great host. Special thanks to him for making it memorable. The agenda was rightly packed, food from the local home was simply amazing better than any other hotel food.

Lily was a fantastic guide. She had the right balance of organising us and giving us free time. She helped everything go very smoothly and was great with the children. We got the cable car up and walked up to the 14th tower before returning and going down the toboggan which the kids loved. The restaurant she took us to served delicious food. I would highly recommend this trip with Lily.

Fabulous day! This was exactly what I wanted for the day. Meet up by Mr Han was from a central hotel rather than having to drive around the city to pick people up. Emma was super helpful and explained the history of the Wall and a lot about Beijing. She also patiently went through the various options to get to the top as we all wanted to do different things. Then we had a couple of hours to walk/explore on our own, and take the toboggan down, then off for lunch. Would definitely recommend the tour and Emma as a guide!

Great Wall was great! We went to Our tour guide lily was super sweet. she planned everything so us out of city before rush hour, before any queue started lining up at the Great Wall entrance etc.. overall it was a great trip with nothing to complaint about.
Lily explained about the history of the wall, the city and overall about the culture. very informative.

If you are looking for a no frills bus to get you to the wall safely and back again, this is your tour. The guide shared a minimal amount of information, so you are free to research it yourself, or just sleep until arrival. If you are looking for a deep history lesson, though, this is not the trip for you.

I rate it as 4 stars, because you only get about 1.5 hours at the Great Wall. Enough time to quickly walk to the first lookout station and come back. Also, the gondola tickets are not included, which is frustrating. So, if you want to expedite your trip up, you have to buy the gondola tickets with like 100 cash give or take - I think it was 25 US for us at the time. The tour really should include all tickets required to get you to the walking point. Don't skip the gondola, the ride is beautiful!

The food for lunch was the best tour food I had ever had. SO GOOD! Enjoy the traditional Chinese food they serve you on the tour, because there is a lot of it.
