Know More about this tour

Heading north from Porto with your guide, start your historic and cultural excursion into Portugal's past and present. The first stop of your day trip is the UNESCO World Heritage city of Guimares, in the wine region of Minho. Portugal's history comes alive as you see the city's 10th-century castle and Dukes of Braganza Palace. Then drive through the historic city center to see Guimares' squares and monuments backed by the forested slope of Mt Penha.

Enjoy a two-course lunch of fish or meat in a local restaurant before continuing to Braga, founded by the Romans as Bracara Augusta and known today as the City of Archbishops for its many religious monuments.

At Sameiro Sanctuary, see the domed church of Our Lady of Sameiro, followed by a visit to Bom Jesus do Monte sanctuary in Tenes. Here, walk up a crisscrossing Baroque stairway to reach the hilltop pilgrimage church, where you can admire panoramic views over Braga.

Then take a drive through Braga's historic center, where Portugals oldest Christian city was born. See the city's Roman ruins, Baroque fountains, grand religious buildings and palaces, and numerous churches and towers before returning to Porto.

I can't be more pleased with this trip. Marcos F., besides being a very good driver, was knowledgeable in history not just of these 2 beautiful cities we visited but the whole region. He answered all our questions and not just about historical facts but also about food and even current events around Europe. Considering, that there were just 2 of us, girl fro Brazil and me, he had to tell the same things in 2 language and realize it's not that easy but he succeeded. Thank you, Marcos!

This tour was WAY too religious for my tastes. Less explanation would have allowed for more exploration. The Good Jesus church in Braga is definitely worth seeing and the lunch was excellent. The guide Nuno was very sweet and knowledgeable, but too much information. Would have been nice to be given the option before the long explanation of where we were began, to not listen and head off exploring. Just needed the meeting time and location for those that do not want to hear the long history.

My husband and I enjoyed our trip to Guimaraes and Braga so much! Ricardo was a fantastic tour guide who gave us just the right amount of information as to not overwhelm us. He kept the tour moving along so we were not just sitting around at any one place. The lunch was delicious in Braga. I will never forget the beautiful castle and churches we saw. Thank you!

A wonderful trip! Our tour guide was EXTREMELY knowledgeable about not only the places we visited but the region and Portugal as a whole. I was initially worried that all the driving would make this trip unenjoyable, but our guide used the time to teach us about the history and customs as well as to point out some beautiful places along the way. The trip was very well timed out, we never felt rushed but also were never left waiting with nothing to do. Our guide was very open to the groups requests and although it wasn't initially planned she allowed half the group who wanted to climb all the stairs in Braga while driving the rest. The lunch provided was very good and they were able to fit our dietary restrictions. By the end of the day the group along with the guide bonded which made the trip that much better. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone visiting the Porto area.

First the good thing. The large van was comfortable, the driver drove safely and was on time at each of the pick up points. That's the only positive.
We were 6 adults who booked the tour. We have been on many tours in other countries and enjoyed learning about the history and culture of where we've been staying. Instead we
found that the tour was actually in 2 languages so we spent a lot of time standing around while everything was repeated in Spanish. Consequently, the guide had no time to give details- just a string of basic facts. There was little narrative or engagement with the group.
Lunch was meant to be a " typical Portuguese lunch". We were sent to a restaurant and placed in a dark basement ( no windows) and given what could be described as a school dinner. A watery tastless vegatable soup - not a vegatable in sight- then a choice of baked pork or cod fritters. We left after an hour and decided to walk round Braga ourselves rather than wait in the basement for another hour for pudding ( icecream and pineapple) and coffee. The tour then went onto Guimaraes where we hoped things would improve . They didn't. Consequently, when we returned to our hotel we cancelled the second trip we had booked with this company.
