Overview

The capital of the north requires little introduction; blissfully located among mountains, valleys and fertile grounds, Chiang Mai brings forward a sense of Thailand in a more docile way than its big brother Bangkok.

A myriad of rivers, flowing along the foothills, assure a constant flow of water for agricultural means with the Mae Ping taking on the supply for the Chiang Mai region on its account. A calm stream that hugs the citys central districts, a farmers life along the Ping River will pass the revue during this 2.5 hour excursion is the end station of this 2.5 hour boating trip.

Topped up with a local bowl of Khao Soy at a local farm, and you have an insight in a farmers life.

Know More about this tour

We start this short yet sweet excursion with a short transfer to the Chaimongkol docking area of an exhilarating 45-minutes cruise over the Mae Ping River. Chiang Mai life from the river takes on a completely new persona once you had a taste of the city. The Rose of the Norths Mae Ping River splits the modern part with the more local side where temples, old wooden houses and local communities still thrive. With modern times interspersed along the river banks, the overall colorful scenery and witness the lifestyle of the local people is something that has retained over time. The cruise ends with a visit to a local farmhouse with its own herbs, vegetables and fruit gardens. On the farm you observe yourself how the cultivation of jasmine rice and a variety of herbs for use both in medicine and cookery are tended to in traditional fashion. Guided by the local family, visitors truly get a feel and taste of how former generations infused their knowledge in the current farming life cycle.A selection of seasonal fresh fruit is there to be tried out in combination with the taste of lemon-grass and other herb juices. You should not leave Chiang Mai without tasting the local dish, Khao Soy, a smooth, spicy, noodle in curry soup. Return transfer from the farm to your downtown Chiang Mai hotel is included.

La petite balade était très bien. Intéressant de connaître toutes ses feuilles. Le repas succulent. Je le recommande

It was a nice trip, but you didn't really see anything, other than the owners restaurant. We didn't get to see how it was made as promised. There was little commentary. It would have been better if we'd seen more.

Seeing the different architectural developmental history and life along the river bank was interesting. Lunch was delicious and the commentary which was difficult to hear on the boat but at the farm was helpful to appreciate the diversity of plants for fresh food

Khao Soy and ice cream were delicious. Interesting little farm. No issues with pick up and drop off at hotel.

Although we travel thailand for some years, we decided this time to start our trip with this guided tour, to "arrive" in Thailand after the long flight and not have to walk for that :-) We have not been disappointed. We were very lucky as only two other guests joined the tour and this was just start of season. We had a relaxing trip with a longtail boat with our friendly guide, who explained everything we asked in quiet good english. The Farm outside Chiand Mai we drove to may look familiar to some, as it has been a filming location for one of the "Rambo" movies, we have been told... We still enjoyed the nice lunch (great Khao Soi!) at the quiet jungle restaurant at the river and had a relaxing trip back to our hotel. Of course it is a touristic trip, but we enjoyed it a lot and the farm restaurant is worth a visit!

Tolle Bootsfahrt mit schöner Natur, gutes Mittagessen an wunderschönem Platz, nette Leute Kommen sicher wieder ♥️♥️

Loved going on the boat trip. Would definitely do it again. Could have used much more time at the 'farm' just to relax and poke around. The 'farm' was not what we expected. Thought we would have interaction with locals who would explain things to us but we still enjoyed it. While eating our lunch, we felt like we were in "Survivor". So cool. Good food. Just do it - you'll enjoy it.

Dejlig behagelig flodtur i en original “Konebåd”, til spændende økologisk familiefarm. Dejlig velsmagende thai frokost samt flot opsat frugt dessert med ananas og melon.

This is the second time we have done this tour. The boat ride is quiet and peaceful. Lunch is delicious- khao soi and fresh fruit. The lunch stop includes an explanation of how different Thai herbs are used medicinally. Be sure to read the signs; the translations are hysterical!
