This tour was the lowest point of my stay. The local company's name is Ilios Travel. From the onset communication was poor. 2 days before the tour I had my hotel call the company to find out pickup location/time and was told to be at my hotel from 8-845 am. The following night they sent a letter to my hotel with a narrower time frame of 8-810 am. I was picked up at 820 am 10 mins later than told. Our bus didn't leave the city until 920 pm because it took 1 hour to pick up the other 10 travelers. The tour guide didn't speak English well and was difficult to understand. Our group included those doing a half-day tour and those doing a full day. At 130 pm after visiting 2 wineries, those doing the full day were given time to go get lunch while those doing a half-day had to wait for our driver. The driver was 30 mins late and the guide kept telling us just a few more minutes. This was my last day in Cape Town and I had already requested late checkout at my hotel but I now realized I was going to be late. I had the tour guide call my hotel to explain this to them. Once our driver arrived we told him we were hungry as it had now been 5 hours since we had eaten but he said no fast-food was closeby. We said ok, get us back to the city. Unbeknownst to us, he took a 40 min detour to get to a KFC. At that point we just wanted to get back and asked him to keep driving. The distance from Franschoek to Cape Town is only 40 mins but it took us 1.5 hours because of his detour that we didn't ask for! I am generally a go-with-the-flow traveler and understand that little bumps in the road are inevitable. But this whole experience was laced with frustration and miscommunication. I truly wouldn't recommend this company to anyone.
