Know More about this tour

Meet your guide and small group upon hotel pickup in the early or late morning (depending on selected departure time) and transfer by air-conditioned vehicle to Ho Chi Minh Pier. Then board a luxury speedboat made of high-quality teak and sink into soft furnishings as your vessel slips away. Relax like a VIP while your captain effortlessly speeds you over the Saigon River toward the countryside and to the infamous Cu Chi Tunnels. Within 15 minutes, the banks of the river change from city sprawl to lush jungle.

Take advantage of great photo ops of life along the riverbanks as your eco-friendly boat navigates the shallow, jungle-fringed canals past water hyacinths, leaving a small wake that minimizes any impact on the local environment. During the 1-hour journey, your knowledgeable guide explains rural traditions and aspects of life along the waterway.

Depending on departure option selected, enjoy unlimited refreshments with a light breakfast of sandwiches or pastries, fresh tropical fruits and Vietnamese iced coffee, or enjoy a late-morning snack, served on board.

Arrive at the historic Cu Chi Tunnels before the larger bus groups, then watch a short introductory documentary before you follow your guide into the winding, underground network. You have approximately 2 hours to explore the Cu Chi site, which includes weapon and booby-trap exhibitions.

Inside the narrow passageway of an authentic Viet Cong tunnel part of a 75-mile-long (121-km) complex now preserved as a war memorial park visit different underground bunkers featuring kitchens, meeting rooms, ammunition depots and hospitals. View a bullet-riddled tank and discover secret entrances hidden by fake termite mounds and other ingenious disguises. Learn how the VC defended the tunnels from American bombs and infiltrators, and marvel at a huge crater formed by an American B-52 bomber.

Try the local cassava root that sustained Viet Cong guerrilla fighters for years during the Vietnam War (known in Vietnam as the American War) and attempt to imagine what living here was like. After your tour, you can feast on fried spring rolls, chicken and beef dishes, and soup as you enjoy an authentic, traditional Vietnamese lunch by the river. If youve selected the later tour, youll enjoy a provided dinner.

After your meal, depart Cu Chi and return by speedboat to Ho Chi Minh City. Upon arrival at the central pier, you will be driven back to your hotel.

  • Very interesting and informative visit. Great experience with the boat journey and the van transfer. Only thing I would improve is the group management and the time management. I got picked up as part of one group, but joined another group for the boat journey. Once arrived at the tunnels, we got a local guide, who then returned us to a member of the tour company. But it was not clear who our reference was, and there was no one trying to keep the group together after the tour had finished. By chance, we all end up in the correct place, but more because we could recognise each other, rather than because a tour guide was collecting us.

  • Great trip!!! Everything was done timely with professional and friendly attitude!
    The lunch was EXCELLENT!!!!
If you want to see more than the streets of HCMC take the speedboat!!!

  • Wonderful time. A perfect tour! Friendly guides, delicious food and great explanation of the tunnels!

  • It was great to take the speedboat. Very pleasant and met very nice people. The tour itself is quite fascinating, but it does depend on the quality of your guide's English. On the boatI, our guide was excellent. gave a 5 to our experience once we got to Cu Chi was poor about a 2. His name was Wen and he was extremely difficult to understand him. I have taught English as a Second Language and have a good ear for accents, so be assured that he was not the guide to get. Linda from Los Angeles

  • Very professional tour. Ch Chi tunnels were fascinating, even for someone who knew very little about the Vietnam war. Very glad we chose to travel there on the speedboat - traffic seemed nightmare-ish and we saw amazing sights from the boat. Exceptionally high standards - quality of speedboat, cleanliness of all facilities provided by tour company, excellent breakfast and lunch too! I would not hesitate to recommend this tour.

  • Amazing experience, our tour guide was brilliant, very amusing in what can occasionally be quite a grim experience, given the place's history. Definitely recommend the extra outlay for the speedboat experience, especially in the stifling HCMC heat!

  • Avoid this tour. The boat ride is about an hour and a half, followed by lunch at the restaurant beside the tunnels. The food was scarce and ultimately gave me a mild case of food poisoning the following days, not fun. The meal was rushed by our local guide who seemed disinterested in taking the time to explain our schedule. During the actual tour, we were again rushed through the sites, feeling uneasy the entire time. After discovering we actually went through the entire tour out of order, and told our time was up, we as a group stood strong and proceeded to watch the infamous intro video provided to all tourists in the beginning of the tour, which our guide decided not to mention. In conclusion, the tunnels are totally worth seeing, just not with this tour group.
