Know More about this tour

Meet your guide, who will be holding an orange umbrella, outside of the tourist office in Placa Catalunya. Here, you'll board an air-conditioned coach for the 1-hour drive to Montserrat.

Travel through villages traversed by the Llobregat River (Catalonia’s second longest) before arriving at Montserrat, a mountain famed for jutting peaks that soar to heights of 4,051 feet (1,234 meters).

On arrival in Montserrat, you’ll embark on a guided tour of its monastery, basilica and museum. Then, you'll have two hours of free time to explore Montserrat independently.

Opt to visit the Royal Basilica of Montserrat — known for its 12th century carving of  the Lady of Montserrat (the Black Virgin). Explore the mountain’s pathways, stairs, caves and hermitages and see Montserrat’s 1000-year-old monastery. Montserrat's museum is also home to a library of nearly 300,000 volumes and a museum with paintings by El Greco, Picasso and Dalí, among others.

Afterward, meet back up with your guide and group for the journey back to Barcelona. Your driver will take an alternative route so that you can enjoy additional scenery and entertain you with recordings of traditional Catalan music.

  • Even the trip to the monastery was worth the price. What a beautiful area of the world. The only drawback was my surprise at the newness of the buildings if you can call a few hundred years old being new. I was anticipating going to a place with something close to ruins but this was not to be so since the entire place was rebuilt after Napoleon and a few of his friends demolished the place way back. The guide was very informed and passionate about this place which helped us understand the significance of it. I think it is 2018 that they will be celebrating some big birthday there so I can only assume that there will be lots of extra celebrations happening. If so I would go again.

  • The tour was very interesting and the site is beautiful. This was a late afternoon tour so we got to see the sun setting over Montserrat. Our tour guide was very informative and had lots of history to share with us. This monastery is a very unique and special place in Spain and I recommend everyone to see it.

  • Great scenic tour up and view up into the mountains. They gave us plenty of free time to see the basilica, walk around and do some souvenir shopping. Tour is a totally different experience being up in a peaceful settting. We did this tour the day we arrived in Barcelona. Really good afternoon tour

  • Although the views are stunning, Montserrat is beautiful and the tour guide was informative and witty we felt the trip was overpriced and the time allotted for the free time in Montserrat was less than 50 of what was advertised.

  • What an amazing side trip from Barcelona! Well worth it to see this beautiful old monastery and basilica with incredible views and history. Fun to see the picturesque landscape outside of the city too. We took the 3PM tour which worked out well with our tight sightseeing schedule.

  • Great tour. Bernard was very knowledgeable and has a lovely demeanour.
Bus ride to and from Montserrat gave a good perspective of Barcelona and its surrounding areas.
Views from Monserrat were terrific. Unfortunately there was insufficient time on the tour to take a ride on the funicular to the top. That looked like it would have been fun,

  • I had amazing day. My guide told me a lot of about Spanish culture and history. Montserrat is the place you must visit! There is beautiful sculpture of Mary with Jesus and unforgettable views from the mountain.
    I will be back soon.

  • What an amazing place. The bus ride was excellent, well worth the visit.

  • Great tour. The host was pleasant and informative but not too in your face. We had about 2 hours at the monastery which was plenty of time. Not enough time to go on funicular or cable car but didn't feel we missed out. Make sure you are in front of Deutsche bank a few minutes early. It is very busy there and they can't wait for stragglers.

  • Enjoyed the view and the guide was very knowledgeable. I would have liked to have spent more than 2 hours there as the hiking trails look wonderful.
