Know More about this tour

The first part of our excursion takes us over the plains and amongst the cattle. After a short while we reach the edge of the canyon and begin a 40 minute descent to the bottom of the canyon, where we find a winding river named La Virgen which we will cross at several points. The views are truly breathtaking in every direction and the river crossings fun and exciting. Throughout the ride you will have the opportunity to gallop around.

Half-way through the excursion there will be a stop for a short break to do a little bit of hiking and search for quartz filled geodes, or to simply relax along the edge of the river and take some fantastic photographs.

After this rest stop, continue on your trusty steeds up-and-out of the canyon until reaching it's spectacular cliffs. Here you will make a pause on your horse to take some incredible photos. It is also here that you may wish to rappel off the sheer 120 foot-high cliff faces!

For the grand finale the staff back at the ranch will have one of the most delicious organic ranch-style meals that you will ever experience. This authentic meal includes freshly hand-made tortillas, organic cheese, beans, quesadillas, nopales (cactus), rice, salad, guacamole & salsa, fresh fruit among other traditional dishes.

This is an incredible half day excursion and a great value. The horses are incredible - they navigate the canyon like professional trick horses as the terrain changes every few step. It is exciting and the sites are stunning. If you have any back issues - i would consider not doing this trip. The road to the excursion is bumpy (cobblestone) and the riding is not smooth due to the terrain.

Amazing experience with a great team. They made sure we were safe and wanted to make sure we had a great day. The lunch afterwards was amazing.

Hats off to Frederico and his team. This was a fabulous ride and it was just the 2 of us with 3 guides. Very challenging to say the least and the scenery was breath taking! the horses were very sure footed and well behaved. The only downside is that my saddle was pretty uncomfortable - no padding and I know saddles. Hopefully, this isn't the case for everyone. Lunch was very nice as well. This is a top notch organization and run very well. If you have the chance to do this, do it!!!

Highly recommended! We had a fabulous tour riding lovely horses who are well cared for. Our guide Jun was so lovely and told us all sorts of interesting information about San Miguel and the canyon. We had a very delicious lunch provided by a local family.

I traveled a lot in my life and everywhere I go, I always do a horseback adventure. This one was BY FAR the best I’ve ever been on - you can see that the horses are you well treated, the staff is amazing and the experience is truly an ADVENTURE. You get to ride your horse for 2h30 + a 30 mins break at the top of the canyon (the view is flabbergasting) - they give you a chance to galop in a very secure way, the guides are fantastic and there are a bunch of cowboys to make sure everything is fine, I had SO MUCH fun riding with them - it’s an experienxe that I recommend to everyone who visit San Miguel de Allende; it will be the highlight of your trip :)

The horseback experience through the canyon weas unbelievable. The guides and the horses were amazing. Ascending and descending the canyon was so much fun and the big payoff was the views from the bottom and top of the canyon. We have done excursions throughout our travels and this one is at the top of the list. Enjoy!

This was an exciting ride through the beautiful campo near San Miguel de Allende! Lots of water crossings (your feet will get wet), lots of up and down on narrow rocky trails, stunning views. While they advertise that beginners can do this, I think experience with riding is best. That said, sometimes the less you know about horses, the more confident you may feel😉 I am experienced rider who used to own horses but I am old (61) so my bones are more fragile. So I declined to gallop. One or two of the vaqueros will stay with you if you don’t want to gallop. They were awesome and did a great job of keeping us safe. No helmets so bring one if you feel so inclined. And wear a hat with a chin strap. One gal showed up in short shorts and sandals and filmed herself with a GoPro the whole time🙄 It’s best to wear boots and tight long pants, chaps if you have them because the plants are pretty thorny and the trails are narrow. I was on Araña (Spider), the oldest horse for the oldest rider😉 He took excellent care of me. I have ridden horses who fell (broke my arm) so I am somewhat anxious about difficult footing. Most of the cowboys don’t have much English so Spanish is helpful. The ride is pretty long but the views are just breathtaking. They provide water and ponchos in case it rains. The lunch afterward was absolutely delicious: salad, rice, Chile rellenos, squash, potatoes, salsa, homemade tortillas. The people were so nice and the other riders were a fun group. Highly recommend this activity and it’s enjoyable to get out of the city for a bit—it was Día de Independencia so San Miguel was super crowded. Bring pesos for tipping the vaqueros and for a beer or coke if you want it. This was a beautiful experience I will treasure for the rest of my life. Even though it was kind of scary riding down😄

This Horseback riding adventure was the best horse ride I’ve ever had. The horses are beautiful, smart, well trained and you can tell they are much loved. What stands out on this tour ( besides the unbelievable beauty of the landscape ) is the cowboys. These guys and young lady are expert horsemen. We received a quick riding lesson that was very helpful, then we were off. This trip is for experienced riders down to absolute beginners. If you want to gallop, they have you gallop in the best way. The cowboys are strategically placed in the group so safe and super exhilarating gallops are done on the trail. If you’d rather keep it to a walk, not a problem. We climbed hills, rode through the stream many times, and saw incredible scenery. Rock formations, flowers, lots of cacti. Lush forests. Just stunning. I loved listening to the cowboys whistle, make noises, and talk to the horses to communicate with them. The ten year old cowboy in training, Javier, was so fun to watch while he twirled his lasso. He, like all the cowboys, was also super helpful and looked after us to make sure we were comfortable. I felt like I was in a cowboy western movie. Do not miss the chance to do this tour. You don’t come across this experience very often. I still can’t believe how wonderful it was. Monique gives you the training and tips. She is so amazing on her horse, was really fun to watch all these experts. I was a little afraid to gallop but I knew I was in good hands. I am so glad I chose to gallop because it’s such an amazing feeling. I got to be a cowgirl for a day, Yay 🤩

This is the best activity you will do! This amazing horseback riding experience is for beginners and experienced riders with the best Mexican meal you will have. This experience gives you the opportunity to gallop through the canyon and have views that will stay with you forever. The cowboys are amazing and make you feel very safe. This is my third time doing the tour and I will recommend it to everyone I know! Gracias Javier y June por todo!
