Tour set out this morning/afternoon on a group tour to the countryside which drive about 45-minutes to thefishermens village of Kompong Phluk whose name means 'harbor of the tusks' and Cambodia great lake. Enjoy Tonle Sap Lake, is a lake with no ends in front of you, and birds flying slowly overhead and surrounding with the interesting village.

During the dry season (February to Jul), the village can be reached by mini bus or motorbike, as the bumpy - road that is normally flooded dries up.

In the rainy season (August to Jan), a short boat ride from the quay, through the wetland area will take you to Kompong Phluk. It is not a floating village but a village on high stilts as well as some floating houses and in spite of fishing is often the privilege of the Vietnamese minority but inhabitants of Kompong Phluk are almost exclusively of Cambodian origin. The villagers frequently move from house to another house during the rainy season, they live in houses built on stilts and move to small huts near the waterfront during the dry season to do fishing.
Arrive at the quay, board a local boat for a 1.5-hour ride on the Tonle Sap Lake as well as village where you will see nature in a way youve only seen in picture books, and the tour of Kampong Phluk is worth the extra effort to get there, then we will visit the village, the pagoda on the only butte (the only building which is not on stilts) and see the activities of the villagers who your expert guide will teach you about their culture, the life style, and the ecosystem of this fascinating place.

Optional (August to Jan): you can pay an extra to take a small canoes paddle by villagers (or wait for the group about 40 mns); will take you deep into the dense flooded forest. The trees of this forest are perfectly adapted to their unusual existence as they are completely submerged a part of the year.

Return to Siem Reap and drop off at your hotel or requested drop off point within Siem Reap city center.

I would highly recommend this tour, it’s both educational and beautiful! Nak, our guide took us to his hometown market where we got to see the local daily life. After we visited the floating village, Pagoda, and mangroves and it was all amazing!

I really enjoyed the entire tour. Our guide, Nat, was full of information and answered all of our questions. He took us through the market where the locals shop and we learned about the different kinds of produce. We stopped by a temple and had a chat with a friendly monk while Nat translated for us. The boat ride through the village was special, and our group also enjoyed the optional canoe ride.

Great day out comprised of three parts: minivan ride to the lake, long boat ride to the village, then canoe around the village. Phy was a great guide with a good sense of humour and deep knowledge of the local culture.

Quite expensive (£40pp) for what you get. Punctual pickup at hotel in comfortable minibus (good). The guide seemed tired and there was a lot of waiting around at a bar/restaurant before seeing the sunset on the lake. The fishing village Kampong Phluk was interesting but you can see that for much less cost.

What an amazing Private VIP tour. Mr. Phy is fantastic, knowledgeable and has excellent hospitality! They picked me up from the airport in a very comfortable van and was treated like a rockstar. I cannot thank them enough for their amazing welcome. I learned so much from this tour about the daily life of the locals in the Tonle Sap! I highly recommend this tour of you want a personalized and genuine experience of Cambodia!

Such a fun filled day!! Our guide, Phy, is so knowledgeable about the day to day life of villagers in Siem Reap. He brought us out to see the markets, the floating village, a Buddhist temple, and stopped throughout the way to explain to us various foods, customs, and activities that were happening. Phy is very friendly with villagers too so it was nice to walk with him everywhere. Along the way, we also got to see rice paddies and buffalos and cows and the best part was an intimate small boat tour through the Mangrove forest. Thank you Phy ♥️ we will definitely be coming back next year for a longer trip!

Great morning out with Choub and Chat from Greenera travel, with an interesting and entertaining commentary, would recommend, particularly enjoyed the boat trips.

Mr. Phy was a very friendly and informative guide. Wish I had more questions to ask because he was very knowledgeable. It was a great experience to see how people in the village live and get around day to day. October was a good month since the rain wasn't too bad but it did get pretty wet at two spots. We stopped by a local market and saw many produce and meat for sale. Mr. Phy helped us identify and explain how different items were used. We took the canoe tour through the Mangrove Forest and partially into the village. It was nice to see the structures up close and our canoe driver sang beautiful Khmer songs.

It was interesting to see a different way of life. However the treatment of animals at many of the stops (all as gimmicks for tourists) was pretty horrific. Mammals in cages so small that they were all turning in 360s as fast as possible (literally driven mad) alligators and birds living in terrible conditions too (garbage filled cages , unable to move etc). Surely there are other ways to make a buck off of tourists that don’t equate to torturing mammals. The tour itself was basically a boat ride through the village, where you stop to see some of those animals, then you turn around and return back. Even without the torture it’s not worth it. If you want to give back to those communities, there are probably better ways to do so.

So beautiful and peaceful. Had an awesome guide, Nak, that took me to a village to experience life as a local. Definitely worth seeing the floating village and interacting with the people there!
