Know More about this tour

Begin your half-day adventure with pickup from your hotel in Mandalay by your private guide and driver. Stops on this morning or afternoon tour include one of the most revered religious monuments in Myanmar: the Mahamuni Pagoda, which houses a Buddha image originally made out of alloy until fine foils of gold were gilded on; it now weighs more than a ton (900 kg). See the golden crown decorated in diamonds, jade, rubies, sapphires, and emeralds.

Your personal guide accompanies you to the Shwe Inbin Monastery and Shwenandaw Kyaung (Golden Palace Monastery), an imposing teak temple that was originally built within the palace complex but subsequently dismantled and reconstructed some years later.

The tour continues on to Kuthodaw Pagoda, consisting of 729 marble slabs in which the entire Buddhist canon is inscribed. You'll visit a traditional handloom silk workshop as well as a Kalaga tapestries craftsman's shop before proceeding to Mandalay Hill, the only place with a panoramic view over the city and surrounding plain. If you selected the afternoon tour, this will be the perfect time to take sunset photos.

Conclude with a drop-off at your hotel in Mandalay.

  • The tour was satisfactory. It was a hot, muggy and dusty day so that probably made it a 4 star. The guide, Mr. Aung Naing Win, was excellent, he and the driver were atentive and very accommodating.

  • Amazing private tour. Our tour guide May was very knowledgeable, spoke clearly and took all our needs into account. We visited the most amazing sights in just 4 hours, which even our child could enjoy. Tour was also very flexible as we could go pretty anywhere we wanted and stay as long or short as we wanted. At the end we even took a detour to a central mall, had lunch there at our own cost, and they took us back to the hotel afterwards. Thanks guys!

  • This was a fantastic tour of the cultural aspects of Mandalay. Our guide was very knowledgable and gave us a really in depth understanding of the religious and cultural values here. His name was Da Da That's what it sounded like. You took us from a simple monestary to the golden palace monestary which at one time had been completely covered in gold leaf.
A tour well worth taking. You really can't do it by yourself. You need a guide who can explain what you are seeing.
