It would have been five star, but we had a mix up with the timmings at the start. Once we got underway though our guide was fantastic. It was not the usual, date followed by architect, followed by someone you had never heard of, this was a really interesting tour with local stories interspersed with personal recollections. Our guide really knew her stuff and who would have thought we even went on the beach, the water was a bit cold though to go for a swim. We navigated our way through some off the beaten track sights taking in a picnic spot with the achitects of St Petersburg before seeing some very detailed models of what they built. We ended up going for ride home on the metro with the guide who took us up what must be one of the longest escalators in the world - over three minutes to the top. A highly recommended personal tour of this great city.

The tour was great and the pace was easy to follow and not tiring. The guide we had, Anna, was very friendly and knowledgeable. We learnt a lot about the city and saw all the sights we wanted to see. I highly recommend this tour!
