Know More about this tour

After pick up from your St George's hotel you will begin the drive along the West Coast which offers some of the most spectacular views as you head to the fishing town of Gouyave. You will pass by the modern Nutmeg Processing Station, one of the largest nutmeg processing factories on the island and where most of the island's spices are produced for export. Your first stop on the Spice Tour will be the Dougaldston Estate.
Down a rugged road, you will step back in time as this spice estate comes into view. Here you will see the real world of spices. You will visit a building with huge drying trays on rails that can be rolled under the building if it rains. Depending on the time of the year, you may find mace, cocoa, cinnamon, pimento, or cloves out drying. Inside the building, you'll be led to a table where you will be invited to "scratch 'n sniff" the leaves of various spices and guess what they are. Whole spices will be available for purchase.
Driving up into the hills, you will visit the Belvedere Plantation, nestled in the cool of the mountains. Here, you can see one of the island's prime exports as the climate is ideal for producing bananas. Continue driving through the lush volcanic mountains to the Grand Etang Forest Reserve, where a photo stop will be taken at Grand Etang Crater Lake. Time will also be taken to see if the group can attract some of the local Mona monkeys, which are unique to Grenada in the Western Hemisphere. You will also make a photo stop at the beautiful cascading Annandale waterfall.

Tony is a terrific guide. Born in Grenada and raised in the UK, he is well educated, interesting and knowledgable. Has a wealth of life experience including time working in the special forces. We expected a group tour but were very pleasantly surprised when we were met at the cruise port for a private tour with Tony. You won't and can't see the entire island in 4 hours, but we found the time adequate for our needs. At times it seemed a bit rushed as Tony attempted to be ahead of large group tour buses which would have slowed our trip considerably. We very much enjoyed Tony's enthusiasm and knowledge and would gladly book again with him should we return.

Excellent tour. Tony is a Grenada-born, Oxford-educated, highly experienced tour guide who was wonderful to be with. He tailored visits and stops to meet our hopes and schedule, and we had a fabulous discussion about the history of the island, and its place in today's world. This tour was an absolute delight.

This was an amazing tour and I highly recommend it for anyone who has a few hours to spend checking out the sights and sounds of Grenada. Tony was a wonderful guide and provides a unique experience, having been born in Grenada, raised in Europe and having returned to Grenada a few years ago. He is engaging and interested in making sure the tour meets and exceeds your expectations. It's a great way to see a big chunk of the island in a small amount of time.

Tony was very attentive to our needs and spent much more time than we expected. He ensured that we had personalized service at the cocoa factory and the rum distillery. Tony was very professional and personable. We would definitely recommend him to anyone who wants to get the insiders view of Grenada

Tony was fantastic. We drove around the island seeing the waterfalls, nutmeg factory, chocolate factory, rum distillery, and rain forest. He was a great guide and knew a lot about the history, politics, economy, and life on the island. I would highly recommend this trip and Tony.
