Betty and I were the only two on this tour ( Half Day Tour Charm), which made it quite special. Our guide Hubert was prompt in attending the ’ red telephone box’ . meeting point in Dijon. He was very courteous with a pleasing personality. He received us warmly and immediatly commenced his informative tour. We were impressed with his knowledge as he took to different areas explaining the production the grapes. In the tastings he appeared very knowledgable of the variety. We enjoyed our own hour walking tour of Beaune. His driving was safe and comfortable. We will highly recommend this tour. Regards John & Betty Dale (Bermuda)
Was very nice learning about the wine development and insights of the region. Our guide was very knowledgeable. Wine tasting was very enjoyable…
Hubert, our guide, was the loveliest man, and he was so kind and knowledgeable, a total expert in the region and it’s wines. An expert driver, and a handy photographer too!
Very good tour. Good stops and discussion about the local terroirs and a very good tasting in Nuits St George. Paul was a very good and friendly guide.
Meeting the local tour guide Emmanuel with his wide and intimate knowledge of the area and his passion for wine was an unexpected bonus. We learned so much more than just about the wines of the area - geography, geology, history, viticulture, oenology, sociology all rolled into one interesting and rewarding experience. Highly recommend for anyone who wants to learn more about the food and wine of the area.
This was a nice mix of touring the vineyard, learning how hands-on the wine-making process is in the fields, learning about how the vineyards are split between different owners, and how the vines are pruned. We drove through different wine-making communities, walked through a castle where monks used to make wine, and then did a tasting. It was an informative and relaxing day.
Emmanuel at Authentica Tours was absolutely the BEST tour guide of our lifetimes!!! I wish we could give him 10 Stars. He had an encyclopedic knowledge of the wines. He showed us wineries and Burgundy sites that most tourists never visit. He seemed to know everyone in the wine business…they all liked him and treated us like family. Even when it came to shipping wines back home, Emmanuel went the extra mile. He had a special arrangement with the shipper. We bought several cases and were literally able to ship back to the states for around 7 Euros/bottle. If you’re going to Burgundy or Dijon…get with Emmanuel!
Tour is quite nice. Not only a wine tour and a tour of the castle, but you get the chance to stop to see the actual vine plots and as part of the return, the guide takes you through the Burgundy country side. Was well worth the money.
