It was full of hundreds of tons of stones even up to the ceiling of the cave (which is 17 meters high from the ground), and was later prepared to contain two storeys:

    1. The upper storey is the St. Simon the Tanner Hall, with seating capacity of 2000 people for spiritual meetings. The walls are decorated with many wonderful pictures engraved on the rocks representing scenarios from the Bible.

    2. The lower storey is St. Mark's Church, which was named after St. Mark the first preacher in Egyptian heritage.

I have mixed feelings about this tour. Once we got to the Church, the tour guide was awesome. He explained everything and told us about the history of the church. You can tell he was excited to discuss this church.
Unfortunately, getting to the church site is another story. 1 We were not impressed with the individual who picked us up at the hotel. I think he introduced himself but remember. The drive to the church was uneventful and a little scary as the driver was talking on two separate cell phones at almost the same time. Dialing the numbers left me very uneasy.
2 Going through the garbage collectors city to get to the church was a real turn off.
I would not recommend this tour unless a new access to the church was made available.
