Stop At: Bhaktapur Durbar square
Bhaktapur, an important and fascinating World Heritage Site, made up of three large squares filled with shrines, temples and activity; Bhaktapur is the essential Newari city with some of the finest architecture in Nepal. In its heyday (14th-16th centuries) Bhaktapur was the most powerful of the Kathmandu Valley kingdoms and its capital for 300 years.
Despite earthquakes and frequent rebuilding, Bhaktapur today retains a medieval feel; its neighborhoods are still caste oriented and centered around the old ponds or tanks (built to store water for drinking, washing and religious ceremonies) and which continue as a social focal point. Local people here are predominantly farmers or engaged in the traditional crafts of pottery, metalwork, art and woodwork which have supported the city since its establishment in the 12th century to service the trade route between Tibet and India and remain active industries. A fascinating place to explore!

Stop At: Panauti Community Home Stay.
Panauti was a commercial town in medieval time, but now it is very much at clam. With a very well preserved backwater and a fascinating place to explore with interesting temples and impressive Rana mansions which have been restored. There are 03 rivers including Brahmayani, Roshi & Punyabati. This town was derived from the holy river of Punyabati. Here is metal works and agriculture with beautiful rice terrace, where we can see agriculture base culture & lifestyle. Panauti local people celebrate several festival and fairs here. There are stupas , stone art and temples around with beautiful woodcarvings.
Panauti offers the beautiful Hindu Temple i.e. Indreshwor Mahadev (12-13 centuries) which has single plinth base, pagoda type with 03 storied, 03 main gates & 06 tundals. The temple dedicated Shiva destructed god in Hindu pantheon. The festival that is most celebrate is like 12 years Makara Mela, Swosthani Purnima & Shivaratri.

Dalip was such an amazing guide, he shares so many interesting things about Nepali culture, and showed us local craftsmanship, food, and amazing views. Totally recommend it!
Excellent day trip. The itinerary and the guide’s knowledge was simply superb. Highly recommend it..
A nice easy daytrip with a knowledgeable guide. Thanks to my guide Dilip. Would recommend this tour to anyone
I highly recommend this day trip to see some of the world heritage sites outside Kathmandu. Monica is a good guide-knowledgeable, patient and friendly.
I booked the tour to Bhaktapur and Panauti with the Royal Mountain Travel Company. With Jamuna as my guide and Urmila as our driver I could not have asked for better company. Jamuna was an excellent guide who showed me the best places I would have never found on my own. She was patient and very knowledgebale and with a great sense of humour. With Urmila we had an excellent driver for our trip. She managed us patiently through the traffic and I always felt very safe. It was great to have an all-female company by the way. I had the most pleasant time with them and the hours flew by. I can highly recommand this trip since especially Bhaktapur is a breathtaking place to visit with lots of history, great temples and a lovely market and shops. Much quieter than Kathmandu but still a very big town with lots to see. Jamuna will bring you to great places for souvenirs and lunch. Last but not least Royal Mountain Travel is working on sustainability and we drove in an electric car, which is also worth mentioning.
We took the tour of Bhaktapur and Panauti with Royal Mountain Tours and Dilip as our guide. We enjoyed the day and got to see a more traditional side of Nepal vs busy Kathmandu city where we were staying. Dilip was a great guide, very knowledgeable and taught us some easy ways to remember the Hindu gods (thanks Dilip!)
Excellent tour - my guide Junu was very kind & knowledgeable. There was a small misunderstanding about whether lunch was included but they resolved this very quickly. Highly recommend
So glad to have Akshay as our guide and Shanti as our driver!! Akshay shared so many knowledges about Nepal and also many interesting religious stories! And he was very funny and brought up the vibe! The tour was well planned and Panauti and Bhaktapur are definitely so worthy to pay a visit! I also appreciate the fact that the travel company (Royal Mountain) pay efforts on implementing their values (you can see from their website) like woman empowerment (Shanti is one of the few female driver in Nepal). I definitely recommend to join this tour! I will explore other tours organised by them as well!
This was a very nice day tour. My guide was excellent and explained things very clearly. I had time to look without feeling hurried which I appreciate. I would recommend this tour to anyone who wants a hassle free experience while visiting Nepal
We had an outstanding day thanks to Dilip and the driver (sorry, name forgotten, but she was great at taking advantage of the narrowest gap and keeping us going despite the busy lead up to the festival)! Unique and unmissable experience in the rural town of Panauti, learning about the Hindu deities and understanding the meaning and history of the temples, and then walking around after the rice has been harvested watching the sifting and dryng in the open spaces. Then the classic tour around the amazing Bhaktapur, seeing historic monuments and the royal palace, though disappointed that as non-Hindus we were not allowed into the central courtyard of the palace. We were surprised by an impromptu course in pottery and also in Thanka painting. Not to forget a great Newari lunch with local specialities known to Dilip and very well chosen and explained by him, and rice beer! Full marks for a great experience and for Dilip responding to our interest, and fit making us feel so welcome.
