Having a professional local guide and a luxury private vehicle ensures to save time and get the maximum out of a full day private sightseeing tour to Hallstatt.
After your Salzburg hotel pickup (or any other site in Salzburg), your journey will take you straight to the first highlight of that tour, the Sound of Music Wedding Church in Mondsee. There is ample of time to see the inside and outside of that beautiful church and as well to explore Mondsee town center.
Your journey continues on scenic roads along Lake Mondsee to Lake Attersee. At the lake side town Unterrach youll get a picturesque view over the lake. Unterach, sometimes referred to as "Little Venice" in the 19th century, is situated at the southern end of Lake Attersee. Gustav Klimt painted two very famous pictures here, the church of Unterach and the village Unterach with Lake Attersee. These paintings were accomplished from the other side of the lake, from the little village of Weissenbach. Klimt zoomed the depicted area with binoculars. Right at this meadow you will get your next great photo opportunity. Get another stunning photo of the village Unterach and maybe zoom in Unterach Church like Gustav Klimt did with his paintings. It was right here in Weissenbach where Gustav Klimt lived in a foresters house in the summer months between 1914 to 1916. From Weissenbach the journey continues on scenic backroads to Bad Ischl, famous for the Emperor Villa of Franz Josef and the Caf Zauner and on to Bad Goisern to Hallstatt.
Having reached Hallstatt and the highlight of this full day tour, your private guide will point out the must-sees of Hallstatt to you, which include a beautiful photo spot of Hallstatt, Charnel House (Bone House), Hallstatt Museum, Hallstatt Waterfall "Waldbachstrub", Hallstatt's local residence area and more. You will have 2.5 hours to explore Hallstatt and all these sites on your own as well as to have lunch in one of the great lake side restaurants in Halltsatt (at your own expense).
The next highlight is the mountain town Werfen with its famous castle. The Castle of Werfen is one of the most magnificent mountain fortifications in the Alps and was also used in the Where Eagles Dare movie with Richard Burton and Clint Eastwood. It was the castle of Werfen which was used as Eagles Nest, not the original location at the Bavarian Alps. Marvel at the bird-of-prey show conducted by historic State Falconers, mainly featuring native free-flying raptors!
Return to your Salzburg accommodation or city center of Salzburg at the end of this 9-hour private tour.
