Know More about this tour

We start in Lower Manhattan at City Hall Park, once known as the New York City Commons. Using Lin-Manuel Miranda's 46 songs as your roadmap, from the title song "Alexander Hamilton" through to the finale "Who Lives, Who Dies, Who Tells Your Story"  you explore the locations, lyrics and relationships of Hamilton.

The 2 dozen stops include every major event in the play including, Kings College (Aaron Burr, Sir, My Shot), NYC Commons (Right Hand Man), Federal Reserve (Ten Duel Commandments), Thomas Jefferson's House (The Room Where It Happens), Bank of New York (Take a Break), Federal Hall (Cabinet Battles, Washington On Your Side) Golden Hill (Guns and Ships), Bowling Green (The Reynolds Pamphlet, It's Quiet Uptown) and Trinity Church (Best of Wives and Best of Women) and many more including Bonus Stops that highlight the places that Hamilton frequented that are not in the play.

You will learn the inside story of his extramarital affair with Maria Reynolds, how he met George Washington, how Lin-Manuel Miranda came up with some of these amazing songs, some of Hamilton's "other duels", what really caused the Hamilton - Burr duel and why it turned out the way it did.

The tour lasts about 2.5 hours, covers approximately 1.75 miles. If you know the songs feel free to sing along, we love audience participation.

  • I had high expectations for this tour and they were all met, if not exceeded. Chazz was a wonderful guide. The headsets he used helped me clearly hear the music from the musical while he provided an informative commentary. We walked for several hours to get a feel about what New York was like in the time of Alexander Hamilton. I took this tour to be better informed when I attend the musical Hamilton - you do not need to have seen the show to take this tour.

Chazz also seamlessly included local sites outside the scope of the Hamilton Walking Tour including 9/11 - nothing was missed. I would highly recommend this tour and will definitely use Chazz again as a guide when I return.

  • Our guide was incredibly informative and even if you are not a huge fan of Hamilton, the historic value of New York is worth it!

  • Chaz was a highly engaging tour guide - he even sings but doesn't rap. Full of knowledge, he is able to contextualise the hit musical by drawing on what really happened and where. This was a wonderful way to spend our morning before seeing the show that night. A must for lovers of history and Hamilton.

  • This. Was. Amazing. I felt so lucky to have happened upon this on Trip Advisor and I'm so glad I booked this! My husband and I went on this tour after catching Hamilton on Broadway the day before, and it could not have complemented the musical more. Chazz was so knowledgeable about not only the historical context of the play, but the cultural influences that inspired Lin-Manuel Miranda as well. He was so generous with his time and even had New York City history to tie in with Hamilton's legacy. This was a one-of-a-kind experience that I would recommend to anyone with an interest in the birth of our nation or an obsession with the greatest musical of our time. Don't miss out on this incredible gem!

  • Great tour, for locals and visitors I live here and learned lots new things about NYC and Hamilton and the founding fathers and mothers.
I had seen Hamilton and it was a great way to learn more about the play, music and Hamilton. I think it would also be great to see it before seeing the play. . Chaz the tour guivde was terrific, knowledgeable and personable he's a member of the Hamilton society in NYC .

  • Chazz was amazing! Taking the tour with Chazz made seeing Hamilton even better than we expected. There were nine of us ages ranging from 10 to 83, and we all agree it was an great experience.

  • Chazz was very knowledgeable about both the musical and the history behind it, a perfect match. I had no idea that so many of the songs in the show had almost identical lines from current rap songs.

  • This wa s a good tour especially if you needed Hamilton history. We started despite the pouring rain under the impression once booked you couldn't change as this tour goes rain or shine, but the other couple did rebook for the next day. We had to go as we had another tour booked. Chazz the tour guide was good and had clips from the musical at the appropriate spots. The problem that Chazz's microphone and our earphones needed some adjusting. His voice came through loud and clear but the songs needed turning up each time they were played. Once again the tour ended fairly far from where it began. ....as a tourist I find this annoying as I have to re-orient myself as to how to get back to where we were staying.
