We were really lucky because we had a private tour with our amazing guide Grace to Hangzhou. Although the weather wasn't that good Grace made our tour a great experience for us. The West Lake where we had a 45 minute boat ride was beautiful. The lunch at a local restaurant was the best we had in and around Shanghai. It is a long drive to Hangzhou but totally worth it!

Jamie is the best guide on the earth, fluent English, knowledgeable, very kind. Hangzhou is the paradise on the earth. West lake, romantic love stories, picturesque tea plantation.

We signed up for a small group tour but due to low season it became a private tour for the two of us. Our guide was Roy, a soft-spoken, polite and very knowledgeable person. We travelled around in an SUV, the driver was friendly, careful and always ready to pick us up at the end of our walks. The weather was slightly wet and it was drizzling most of the time but it did not bother us. West Lake is very beautiful and we were glad that we did not cancel our trip there because of the weather. Thumbs up :)

I ended up booking a last minute day trip to Hangzhou from Shanghai during my week visit. It was nice to get out of the city and explore a different city. I had initially booked a group tour, but it turned out that no one else had booked this tour, so I ended up enjoying a private day tour. Grace, my tour guide, was very easy to communicate with, super friendly, and knowledgeable. Most of the day was spent traveling back and forth from Shanghai to Hangzhou and back. I enjoyed my tour, but I wish I was able to really check out the areas and the pagodas. It felt a bit brief.

Our family travel to China for the first time, we surprised found Grayline also has agency in Shanghai, we don’t even hesitate a little to choose this familiar travel brand of our hometown, it proved our choice was correct. With good pre-communicate with the Grayline staff, we’re well informed with the pick up location, time and every useful guidance. The coach is comfortable, the guide is knowledgeable and full of passion, we visited this beautiful garden city near Shanghai and had a great time, the boat ride in west lake is amazing, even the Chinese lunch was fabulous. It is quite worthy spending a day there.
