Know More about this tour

Leave central Frankfurt and travel south to Heidelberg in the northern Baden-Württemberg region – roughly an hour away. Straddling the River Neckar, the romantic city is framed by dense woodlands that seemingly try to hide its star attraction – Heidelberg Castle. Referred to as ‘the Schloss’ by locals, the castle is the epitome of a fairytale fortress with palatial Gothic-Renaissance architecture, lavish grounds and heart-stopping views.

Head inside and explore the ruins with your guide, walking through its large courtyard and along the terrace. Drink in the sweeping views, and then admire some of the castle’s artifacts, like the wine barrel that is said to be the largest in the world.

After your castle tour, travel down the hill, and then stretch your legs on a walking tour of the Old Town, seeing attractions like the Old Bridge, the 18th-century Karlstor gate and the Church of the Holy Spirit. Hear of Heidelberg’s prestigious reputation as a university town, and learn about day-to-day life in the town while walking around. As your walking tour finishes, chat to your guide about places to eat in town, and then enjoy some free time for lunch (own expense).

Meet your guide back on your coach, and then travel east to Nuremberg – Bavaria’s handsome second city. Sit back and relax on your journey, hearing about the city's complex history, from the burden of its Nazi legacies and the Nuremburg Trials to its prosperity as a European trade and commerce center.

The city is as visually colorful as its past, with distinctive red-roofed buildings stretching around Imperial Nuremberg Castle (Kaiserburg). See the sights on your walking tour of Nuremberg's Old Town, stopping for photos by the original city walls and the Castle Quarter with its half-timbered houses.

How you spend the rest of your time in the city is up to you. Perhaps pay a visit to Albrecht Dürer's House (a museum dedicated to the works of Northern Renaissance artist from Nuremberg). Alternatively, stroll around the streets perhaps visiting one of the town’s legendary sausage stands or browsing the shops. All meals are at your own expense.

  • the description of this tour it seemed like it would be going to Heidelberg first and then on to Nuremberg. But our driver did the opposite so we spent about 80% of this trip in the car. This was slightly expected knowing how are these cities are from Frankfurt. Overall not worth the money spent

  • This tour was informative and enjoyable. Our tourguide Thomas was professional, friendly and amazing as he switched fluidly from English to Portuguese to German. It was a long day but every minute was well used and filled with relaxing views, walking tours and information. We were a small group of just three travelers and rode in a nice Mercedes sedan- limo. I highly recommend this tour.

  • This was a wonderful trip! It was only myself and my wife so we had a car and driver, and our driver, Jack, was great. He gave us background on all of the places we saw. The tour included the castle in Heidelberg as well as the town itself, with a stop on our own for coffee and a bite to eat, then we headed to Nuremberg and visited the Former Nazi Rally Grounds, the building where the trials took place, and Nuremberg's Market Square, where a lot of local artisans sell their wares. It was a long and wonderful day in which we got to see quite a lot that we would not have seem otherwise. Highly recommend the trip and our driver, Jack!

  • Including me, there were only three passengers on this trip. Peter, our driver, was fantastic, knowledgable and friendly. He was very accommodating to each of us. Due to some misfortune with alarm clocks and timezones, I nearly missed the boarding, but the tour company not only called me, but also made out-of-the-ordinary arrangements to pick me up at my hotel. Super-duper helpful and really over-the-top customer service. The stops, Heidelberg and Nuremberg, were great. The castles were gorgeous and I took some pictures of the scenery that I'm proud of. Peter offered suggestions for best coffee house and best place for regional sausages in addition to knowledge of the cities' history. Because there were only three of us, there was no need for a large bus, so we had a 9-passenger van. The van had more than enough room of course, but was not very comfortable for the 6 total hours of riding. I'm happy with the tour, grateful that I had such a great driver and thoughtful team. Next time I'm in Frankfurt with a day to spare, I'll definitely book another tour and request Peter.

  • Our guide was wonderful. Beautiful trip. Will do it again!!!!

  • This tour was amazing!

  • The tour office was only provided as an address on the voucher. The operator's brochure has a better loaction guide as it not easy to find. The office guide is not friendly at all.

  • I booked for this tour but was not available on my selected date. Instead the tour was Heidelberg and Rottenberg. The tour was nice and i get to see and know about the places. They are beautiful.
