Relaxing few hours after a busy few weeks. I was able to unwind. Be warned the smell of the mud take ages to get out.

Please do not book via Viator. Terrible customer service. I booked 2 tickets via Viator and realised paid in USD on the next day. I checked the transaction and it was more than the original price in NZD. I thought i could get discount with Viator but they just confuse people with USD. I asked customer service to refund the discrepancy but it was rejected. What was the point that i booked the tickets in advance? It’s scam.

We had the best time! Would highly recommend the guided walking tour + mud bath. Our tour guide Liam was very knowledgeable, engaging, funny and entertaining. I’m so glad we did the guided walking tour because we got to hear about Māori myths/ legends and facts that we wouldn’t have known otherwise if we did a self guided tour. If you do the walking tour, I’d recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes as you walk on gravel paths and in a forest and bring a warm coat if it’s a cold day. If you’re planning on doing the mud bath, wear bathers and clothes you’re happy to throw away as your clothes will smell afterwards and make sure you take your jewellery off as directed. All staff members were extremely friendly and helpful. I would definitely be doing this experience again when I come back.

We paid for a guided tour and wasn’t disappointed. Ian was our guid and he was very friendly and informative. The tour went for a while and was packed with lots of amazing information, not just about the geothermal activity but also the local Māori culture. Highly recommend!

The mud bath was OK, and the sulphur pool very hot and relaxing. However, the showers were open and cold, and the total experience does not deserve more than an average rating. The sulphur and mud smell sticks to the swimsuit for a long time, so do not wear your best attire.

Excellent adventure with the whole Family! We had a great time with the mid and sulfur pools. The showers were very clean. It was nice to grab a quick bite and coffee afterward.

WAAAY overpriced for what it was. $85 each!!!! Only a piddly timed 20 mins in the mud bath then they literally time you & make you get out to go to the mineral pills. Is NOT the only thermal mud pools in NZ like they say as Ngawha springs in Northland have the same kind of thing (you get the mud around the edges of the tub) and there is an unlimited time on your visit and the cost is (at my last visit it was $5 but I think it went up to $20-$25 following the renovations post covid)

I can recommend highly enough. Lovely helpful staff who are not only knowledgeable but fully engage with you to ensure you get the best of your experience. The mud pools are relaxing and rejuvenating, worth every penny

This place is great. We did the full experience and it was worth it. If you do do this try and aim to do the guided tour because it was SO informative, you just wouldn’t get that kind of info walking around yourself (I can’t remember the guys name but he was great). The mud bath (yes only 20mins unfortunately, but we knew this anyway), then the sulphur pool (unlimited time) were great. Just what we needed. The weather was wet but it was fine for the tour and pools. The shower area is clean and the showers are good too. We hired towels at 5 NZ dollars each and swim ware to hire is only 5 NZ dollars too. Do NOT wash your normal clothes with the sulphur clothes. It WILL stick to your other clothes and is virtually impossible to get the smell off the other clothes!
