Lalu is a different breed of tour guide. My first experience with him was one of shock and a bit of disbelief. I was in touch with him long before my trip and as I landed at Jaisalmer, I realised that time at hand was limited. Lalu, assessed the situation quickly and refused to take me as he felt the time was insufficient to do justice to his work and flatly informed me that I should not waste my money on an experienced guide like him. Certainly a self assured reply which took me aback. I soon struck a deal with him by assuring that I would be early for the walk next morning and though he thought I would not turn up so early, he promised to wait for me at the appointed time and place with a condition that he would wait for no more than five minutes. I landed five minutes early and Lalu with a surprised smile and look asked me to hop on to his two wheeler. It was as if everyone in town knew Lalu and he was constantly greeting everyone with his Jai Sri Krishna. We went around the small lanes of the city and observed the early morning sights of this ancient town. It was clear that Lalu loved his city and its history and was passionate in detailing the making of the fort. Lalu's brisk walk up the fort belies his big frame. As we walked he had things to say about the architectural prowess of the kings and took immense pride in showing around the Jain temples with intricate art work. Lalu, knowing that I was into photography, showed points from where I could click without clutter and hindrance. Showing us around the beautiful havelis, he rounded off by getting me mouth watering kachoris and showed around shops for local handicrafts and textiles. His fluency in English is remarkable. I had the opportunity of engaging him for the second time in a week when I brought with me a group of thirteen birders to see the fort. He did not disappoint the group with his crisp explanations given the constraint of time. One thing Lalu didn't show me was the sand dunes and the oasis. Maybe next time. I would unhesitatingly recommend this proud guide to anyone.

We had the most excellent experience with Lalit ji. Being a native of the fort, he is a fount of interesting information about Jaisalmer and its history. He is also very flexible in arranging a tour according to your needs; when my wife could not join us in our initial outing to the fort, he gladly arranged a special mini-tour especially for her the next morning. You cannot find a better guide for the Jaisalmer area than Lalit-ji.

Lalit ji is one of the best guides I have met. He’s a master story teller, super passionate and very articulate. He knows every place and every person (it felt like it) around the fort area in Jaisalmer. By the end of the day, it felt like a family friend was showing us around the city rather than someone we just met. It was truly a memorable experience. Thank you Lalit for an incredible walk and talk through the ancient streets of Jaisalmer. I am sure we will meet again!!..

Thank you Lalit for an incredible walk and talk through the ancient streets of Jaisalmer. Full of interesting stories, historical facts as well as sharing his love of cricket, Lalit is the perfect guide for anyone visiting this beautiful place. Thank you so much.

It was my first time visiting Jaisalmer and Mr. Lalit has helped us explore the city like a local. One of the nicest humans I’ve come across and didn’t feel like we were meeting him for the first time. His way of story telling and the little nooks and corners of Jaisalmer he has helped us see have been the highlight of our trip. We wanted to get lunch at Suryagarh and despite no availability, he managed to arrange a table for us at the last minute. All his food recommendations and place recommendations at the exact time have been super good. He makes you feel extremely comfortable while having the best experience at Jaisalmer. Will definitely visit again for not only Jaisalmer but also Mr. Lalit. Thank you for one of the best experiences of 2022.

Lalit Ji is possibly the best person to show you around in Jaisalmer. He is kind, warm, jovial and has an incredible personality. He is someone who is deeply attached to the wonderful city of Jaisalmer and someone who is extremely proud of their rich and vibrant history and heritage. He does not rush the tour and he gave us more than the stipulated time to tell us the incredible stories of this place. He will show you the city and the fort in ways that no one else can. Lalit Ji's family has been living inside the walls of the golden fort for centuries and he is the best person to give you a glimpse of his unique city. I would strongly suggest that you book the Heritage Walk Tour with Lalit Ji becasue it will be an unforgettable experience.

Mr Lalit Purohit aka Lalu German is an Amazing person with mind bougling persona. By his profession as a Guide, he has done all justice for our day and the explanation given by him. Good to be around with & a jovial person. Thank you Lalu Ji for showing Jaisalmer through your eyes.

If there's one person who will make your visit to Jaisalmer memorable, it's got to be Mr. Lalit. We spent half a day with him in the bylanes of Jaisalmer fort & city, and he made the heritage walk a really memorable & enjoyable experience. His knowledge of the place and its history is truly remarkable, but his sense of humor was what impressed us the most. He has a wonderful knack for telling you random facts mixed with humor that leaves you spellbound and in splits. A true master of his trade! I would highly recommend Mr. Lalit for this heritage tour and also for the mouthwatering local snacks that he treated us to. It was a day very well spent with him.

The time spent with Lalu ji was the highlight of our trip to Jaisalmer. He was a bundle of vitality who managed to keep us all interested in learning and sightseeing while also making us feel at ease. We had a wonderful time on the Heritage walk with my husband Sudhir and our dear daughter Tasha, who joined us to take in the amazing architecture. Jaisalmer's residents warmly greeted us with broad smiles and generous hospitality because everyone there knew Lalu ji. He took us to a couple of cafes with spectacular rooftop views, romantic lighting, and tasty treats. He made sure we learned about the local cuisine, and we dined on some delicious Kachori and other snacks. He knows the answer to every question we could possibly ask. Along with the historical tour, Lalu ji took us shopping and showed us his home. His command of the English language was remarkable. After a while, he and my husband started talking about cricket. We will always remember this wonderful trip with great fondness. So very grateful to you, Lalu ji. Our paths will undoubtedly cross again. 🙏🙏🙏👍
