Along the way, your guide will describe the long history, unique culture, architecture, and geography of Charleston and the greater lowcountry area, painting a detailed picture of how Charleston's tumultuous past formed the city now beloved by travelers the world over. You'll view some of the city's oldest houses of worship, burial sites, theaters, the forts of Charleston harbor, and the antebellum mansions that look out across the waters of the Cooper and Ashley rivers, among many other historic and picturesque sites. We did a small group tour with Bill a couple of days ago and he was brilliant! Sure, most tour guides know their stuff (one would hope) and their talks are usually full of entertaining and gossipy bits of information that are fun, but that’s not what Bill offered. He offered us a brief, focussed, opinionated history of economics, class clashes and the civil war over a brief hour and a half. Bill isn’t just a tour guide. He is a true historian with a talent for communicating what he knows. He didn’t just want us to walk off with some fun little tidbits, he wanted us to leave with at least some understanding of the place. That makes him A true teacher in the very best sense of the word.

Passionate about the information he shares, which made the tour more interesting. Knowledge tour guide..didn’t simply recite facts.

The tour was great. Very interesting and learned many interesting historical facts that I was not aware of. Also got to see everything that I was interested in as we walked through the city. Bill, our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and entertaining to spend the two hours with.

Also, he did not receive our confirmation from Viator, but was very gracious in letting our group of 4 join the tour even though it was not in his system.

Overall, it was a great experience and highly recommended.

This should be renamed the unfiltered Charleston tour that dives into the true history of Charleston, including the non-uplifting history to the fun history of Charleston. Our tour guide was so knowledgable and clearly knows the history of the city, industry, wars, etc. Highly recommend to anyone as this was the highlight of our trip and truly memorable experience.

Bill was a superb historian. His interpretation of Charleston’s history was very accurate. He did not shy away from topics that were taboo. Extremely knowledgeable and informative.
