Overview

Experience the meaning of Pura Vida as this guided trip takes you to the forest in the hills above Jaco Beach to a majestic setting of pure Costa Rican natural harmony.

Itinerary:

After a short drive from Jaco beach you will arrive at our base camp and let’s hop in our 4×4 safari vehicles and drive up the mountain over 1000′ to get to our private reserve. Your guide will stop along the way to point out interesting flora and fauna and the incredible views of the ocean and countryside. After a short (5 minute) downhill hike we will start our adventure through the river. We will hike up the river using trails and bridges that criss-cross the river allowing us to enjoy multiple smaller, interactive waterfalls and natural pools. There are 4 different swimming holes and many waterfalls to get under. These natural pools will invite you to swim in the fresh mountain spring water and submerge under the falls for an invigorating massage. For the more adventurous there are a couple of places you can jump into the pools from 4′ and up to 25′! When you are done we have the 10 minute hike back to the truck. During the entire tour we are totally surrounded by beautiful Costa Rica virgin rain forest. Bring your camera to capture all your amazing experiences and your guide will keep it in a dry bag and make sure it stays safe!

We had a blast. Christian and Wilson were awesome and made our experience wry pleasant. We were able to hike to some waterfalls and able to do two different “cliff jumps” if you wanted. That was the highlight for my kids. The hike was easy enough for my 8 year to do. They also fed us breakfast which was a total surprise and very delicious. Highly recommend this adventure. We had fun and was definitely a highlight for our trip

This trip was amazing from pick up to drop off. Lomar, our tour guide picked us up and brought us to the property where we were fed an authentic Costa Rican lunch. We then drove to a spot where we got out and started the hike. It was a vigorous hike up a trail where we stopped frequently when Lomar spotted something interesting and gave us a short explaination. We continued until we reached the 1st waterfall. Then the fun really began, we waded in the pools, sat under the waterfall and had an opportunity to jump into the water from various heights. Lomar took fantastic pictures of us in the water with our phone Then we finished loop and came back to our transport all the while learning more fun facts. Lomar stopped at the original location for us to use the rest room and get into the shuttle back to our hotel. Tip, wear a bathing suit with a cover up or water shorts and water shoes are a must!!

The whole trip was great from start to finish! The meal we had was amazing, the off roading to the location had amazing views, and the waterfalls were absolutely stunning! Christian is an absolute legend who speaks perfect English. My girlfriend and I both individually thought it was one of the best tours we’ve ever done!

My family loved everything about this tour, from the fun ride in the crazy 4x4 to the flora and fauna that our wonderful guide Wilson showed us while we were walking in the forest. The water was cool and refreshing and the falls so beautiful. We thought we were seeing a few waterfalls, but the experience was so much more. Oh, and breakfast beforehand was fantastic. Would do this again for certain!

Loved learning about the different plants on the tour. Cristian is so friendly and knowledgeable we felt like we have known him our whole lives. The breakfast was amazing with traditional food that is very hard to find in Jaco. The water was so refreshing to swim in and jump into. We saw colorful animals that we would have never saw if Cristian didn’t point them out to us. Since no one else booked the same day/time, we had our own private tour. It was amazing and I would 100% recommend everyone do this tour.

This experience exceeded our expectations. The five star reviews are well-deserved. Joaquin was an excellent guide who went above and beyond to make the hike and waterfall tour wonderful. This is definitely off the beaten path and you get a taste of the local culture and beauty. I couldn’t recommend this tour more.

This was a great trip and a very easy hike compared to other waterfall trips in the area. The guide was very informative on the hike - he pointed out many different plants and animals. The lunch was very tasty and included a vegetarian option. Lots of opportunities for photos and diving!

Fun day hiking and swimming at the waterfalls. Wilson and Christian were great! The lunch before our trek was delicious!

Lomar and our other guide (I have forgotten his name!) were awesome stewards of the forest adventure and the waterfalls. It was a good amount of exercise and safe but fun “daring” feats of climbing, hiking and jumping into waterfall pools. Nothing touristy about this, and the breakfast beforehand was so delicious and rustic as well. Highly recommend!!

We had a family of 12 do the Waterfall Explorer tour. It was so great. We have been all over the world and my daughter said it was her favorite excursion ever. Lunch was simple and delicious. The ride to the preserve was almost as fun as the tour. Beautiful scenery and both guides would point out local plants and animals. Then, of course, the waterfalls. There are only a couple of places to swim, but both included jumps (one 30 feet high!!). Then, it absolutely poured rain. Being in a rainforest in a rainstorm is a beautiful experience. I highly recommend this tour.
