The Maurtourco desk at the airport sorted us very quickly on arrival and took us to our hotel. The rep met us the day after we arrived and explained how things worked on Mauritius and what we could do. We chose the historical tour by coach. The guide was excellent and spoke English as well as Italian - switching between languages fluently. She knew the sites we were visiting and ably guided us around the Botanic Gardens, then the sugar/rum factory before Port Louis and the aquarium. A fabulous day out and excellent value (£170 for the two of us which included all the entry fees).

Super leuke dag, erg interessant.

It was our first trip to Mauritius Resort and we stayed at Le Meridiean in Baclava, North West Mauritius. Lovely country with very friendly people and lots to see and enjoy!

The tour of pamplemousse gardens with our guide Wendolene ( sorry if misspelt) was excellent the information and history was very interesting and we learnt a lot. The sugar museum was informative and thought provoking as it covered the history including forced labour/ slave trade. The views from the citadel were fabulous. The visit to Port Louis was a contrast between the hustle and bustle of the market and Caudan waterfront. I think we would have preferred to miss the market and have longer at Caudan. By the time we got to the aquarium ( which was worth seeing) we were ready to come home as it as a full on day. Our guide was excellent and informative throughout the day.

The botanical gardens are breathtaking. Indigenous trees and plants in natural habitat makes one appreciate nature.

It was a good tour with some spirited commentary by the guide through the day. The afternoon hours could have been extended to accommodate one more place of visit rather than leave guests at the last point of visit to spend 3 hours at. Port Louis market is for shopping and not all visitors go on guided tours for shopping!
