Many of Munich's buildings carry the secrets of a dark past. Just six decades ago, Munich bore the official title, Hauptstadt der Bewegung, the Capital of the Nazi Movement. This was the city that the Allied Supreme Commander General Eisenhower called 'the cradle of the Nazi beast'. Find out why on this fascinating walking tour.

Know More about this tour

Munich was the birthplace of the Nazi Party and the home of its headquarters. The voice of Adolf Hitler resounded around the public squares and streets of Munich before being heard anywhere else in Germany. As the stage upon which some of the Nazis' most notorious crimes, from Hitler's failed Putsch to the horrific Kristallnacht, the largest anti-Semitic progrom seen in Europe for centuries and a dismal milestone on the road to the Holocaust were launched, Munich was the nursery of a movement that would shake humanity with some of the most infamous and terrible events in history.

In a unique and fascinating tour, our dedicated guide will open up this hidden history for you. We'll show you the beer-halls which hosted the first small gatherings of the fanatics who one day would lead the Third Reich, and the place where Hitler made his first major speeches. We'll walk you through the streets where Hitler and his brownshirts fought their way to power.

The irony is that while much of central Munich was devastated by Allied bombing, many Nazi buildings survived and still stand today. Standing alongside them are memorials to the city's many victims of Nazism, including those who sacrificed their lives in opposing its hateful ideology. We'll show you all these sites and give you the story.

The tour was excellent, a great way to see the city. Our guide, Dan “The bearded man”, was exceptional. Highly recommend him as a guide. His passion and knowledge, along with his personal family experiences, made the tour that much better. It is worth every penny!

Very interesting tour with deep thought about the history of the 20th century. Some historical knowledge is necessary for understanding if you wold like to go with children. The guide was delicate about very sensitive moments. 2,5 hours had flied very fast.

We spent an amazing morning with our tour guide, Josh, learning history and seeing some amazing sights! Even though it was a cold and rainy day, we thoroughly enjoyed what Josh shared. He clearly has done a lot of research and had lots of pictures and visuals to share in addition to taking us to several locations in Munich. We’re still telling family and friends all that we learned.

This tour was great, there was a group of 7 of us and we all really enjoyed it. Our guide (American chap from Rhode Island) was a master of his craft, delivered a to the point narrative of this dark but important chapter in modern history. Highly recommend!

Our tour guide Michael was wonderful. He has lived in Munich for 20 years (from USA) his knowledge is impressive and explains things exceptionally well. We had walked around the same monuments and landmarks earlier that day and it was so fascinating to hear the stories and see the photos (on his iPad) of the history of these places. Highly recommend!!!

My wife and I did this tour with Radius tours and it was excellent, our tour guide Ian was very knowledgeable about all aspects of the rise of the Nazis and Adolf Hitler. I would thoroughly recommend this tour without hesitation. Thanks Ian, great bloke except him being a Spurs supporter but I can forgive as it was a great tour.
