  • This was a very worthwhile trip, as it is BEAUTIFUL on the river boat ride. Unfortunately some of the boat drivers are aggressive and not only pester for tips at the end, but also at the half way point they aggressively pester you to buy drinks and snacks for them but this is luck of the draw and not something the vendor can control. The boat ride itself is very peaceful and wonderful. The lunch wasn't very good, but the destination was worth the trip.

  • Wonderful services.Great trip with awesome tour guide. This is a great Hoa Lu Tam Coc Day tours. It's an easy bus ride from Hanoi and well worth the money. The guides take really great care of you and the sites we visited were very interesting. Hanoi can be seen in one day so take advantage of your stay to go on tours outside Hanoi.Highly recommended

  • Great tour, well coordinated, great lunch with a nice tour leader. Well done Duc.

    Thank you

  • This was an excellent tour, with a variety of experiences. The trip in the boat, through caves and spectacular scenery was brilliant - however make sure you take a hat it was very hot. The bike ride to the pagoda built in to the side of the hill was also fun. The bikes are pretty dodgy, but safe enough on quiet roads! Guides were a little lacking in communication, so there were a couple of times where we were unsure about what we were supposed to do. However, overall very well worth doing.

  • Amazing hoa lu tam coc boat trip.super. Rich in cultural and historical experiences and food. The nature is stunning.we enjoyed the sampan river ride and the scenery was breathtaking . Was amazed on how our rower rowed using her feet the entire 2 hour. Hoa Lu was the best choice for day trip from HN

  • This area of Vietnam is spectacular and an easy day trip from Hanoi. The old capitol, Hoa Lu, is very interesting and you can see that a lot of work is going into preserving it. Temples are not really my thing but I must admit that they were beautiful. Tam Coc is sometimes referred to as the Ha Long Bay on land and it certainly lives up to that reputation. The boat ride down the river takes you past sheer cliffs and lush, green rice fields. Although there are heaps of boats taking tourists up and down, it still has a peaceful, serene feel to it. I can't stress how truly amazing the scenery is around you. We did the trip that included the 3 caves and it was worth it. At times you can touch the ceiling and had to bob your head a bit. After the boat ride, we cycled through the countryside a bit and went off road down a bumpy walking path past yet again, really amazing scenery. Didn't get too far too fast on the bikes because we kept stopping to take photos of the awesome bright green rice fields. The cons about this trip is that it is really, really touristy, especially on the river, and the people rowing you get a bit pushy about tipping. I get the crowd numbers because it is spectacular and not a big area so of course it's going to be crowded. You just have to get over it and enjoy the scenery for what it is. Be firm but polite when you say no thank-you. On a side note, where you stop for lunch is very nice with good quality, tasty food. The goat meat in Ninh Binh province is a specialty and it didn't disappoint.

  • Amazing experience, with every penny!Food was great, guide was knowledgeable and did a great job communicating with us. Totally worth more than what I paid.

  • Our tour to Hoa Lu and Tam Coc was operated by Alova Cruises / Go Asia Travel.

There were a number of things that didn't go quite well during this tour and overall we wouldn't recommend taking it.

    Here's what went wrong:
    1. Our pick-up time was confirmed to be 8.15 AM multiple times. Nevertheless, the driver came at 8.00 AM and we were rushed to finish our breakfast to board the bus.
    2. The guide's English wasn't good and it was very hard to understand.
    3. Our group had around 25 people... Not exactly what I'd call a small group.
    4. The guide lacked kept making jokes that caused confusion.
    5. My partner can't ride a bicycle and we were denied to double ride. We were told that is the policy but we saw many other groups double riding... Also the guide didn't handle this situation properly as we were left alone with limited information on where and when to find the group later.
    6. Multiple times we were pressured to tip the driver, the boat rower and the guide. While it is fine to state that tips are expected the way this was done is really bad... Basically the guide would question each member in the group individually and in front of the whole group about their satisfaction and then request for tip in front of everybody stressing that this is just about politeness in Vietnam...

Tam Coc is a wonderful place but unfortunately our tour was really ruined because of the guide's attitude and lack of professionalism. We definitely wouldn't recommend using Alova Cruises / Go Asia Travel to visit Vietnam.

  • Would have been helpful if company emailed stating time for pick up etc. Other than that was a great trip, cheers

  • Fantastic scenery.A must see .I book this tour via online travel was very easy , they were great! Tam coc is a must visit, the whole experience....the ride on the small boats down the river, under the very low caves, the beautiful scenery......incredible! They call this place Halong bay on land. I did not know what to expect....I was not disappointed! The Buffet lunch provided was very good with multi choice food . Our tour guide was Fantastic....his name....Tran Thai Tuan liked to be called Tuan he is a very smart guy, interesting, very knowledgable, great English, discreet when you need him to be, shares some very very interesting stuff....I even learned something about the Vietnamese language from him because I asked.... the tour guide Tuan are the way to go as far as trips go....he was also our guide to Halong Bay.
