Wow! My boyfriend and I had the most wonderful time with Huy as our guide and now, friend!! We were the only people on the tour so it felt very personal and intimate which we loved. I can just tell that Huy is an amazing tour guide because he has such a loveable personality. Huy was very, very easy to talk to and made us feel so comfortable. My boyfriend and I were talking to him nonstop throughout the car ride and tour. He spoke very good English and was very informative of Vietnam's history and culture. He showed us places that were less crowded and what he thought was worth seeing and man the views were unbelievable. He always went the extra mile for us to show us a good time. He also took such amazing photos for my boyfriend and I! I'm very picky about my photos and I loved all the ones he took!! It was very hard to say good bye at the end of the tour but we were so happy that we gained a friend during our trip here in Hanoi (: Some tips for the tour! We came during winter time (January) and it was also raining all day! Huy provided us with umbrellas which was very helpful throughout the trip. We had to climb lots of steep steps to reach the pagodas / temples so wear good shoes with grip. We still slipped a few times with our hiking shoes so walk down those steps carefully and slowly. My boyfriend and I had checked the weather beforehand so we knew to bring a waterproof windbreaker and hiking shoes which were perfect! Temperature was about 70 ish degrees Fahrenheit so it wasn't super cold for us since we're from LA. A long sleeve shirt and good waterproof windbreaker should be good. We got pretty hot at one point since we were climbing up/down so many step so I wouldn't overdress. I would definitely wear a thicker sweater for the boat ride at the end of the tour. It got pretty chilly since we were just sitting there in the rain for about a good hour so I had wished I brought something a bit warmer for that part of the tour. We had to go back to the van to travel between place to place so your able to bring extra clothes/shoes without having to lug everything around. I would recommend bringing an extra set of pants/shirt to change out after the boat ride since my leggings got pretty soaked from the rain and I had to sit in it the whole car ride back to the city. That's only if it's going to rain during your tour! You won't be getting wet if it's not raining (: It's hard to say which part was our favorite because everything was SO beautiful. My boyfriend and I loved the rain and fog that covered the landscape and it added so much to the vibe of Vietnam. Food was delicious, views were amazing, and we had the most awesome tour guide. I feel like everyone is going to recommend going to Halong bay and not Ninh Binh but it's honestly a must!! We haven't gone to Halong Bay yet so we can't compare but we are honestly happy to go home after this tour and not see anything else. If you have the time to catch this tour or visit this side of Hanoi, please do!! Thank you Huy for the most amazing time! This was the highlight of our 2 week stay in Vietnam.

Worth visiting! We went to Ninh Binh province, not too far from Hanoi and had a lot of fun there. The highlight was the sampan boat tour of nearly 1.5 hr, enough to see the beautiful landscape with paddy fields. Our guide, Hung, took care of our group and did his job so well. Highly recommend it to anyone seeking a city break!

Cannot recommend this company enough. I was in Vietnam for work with a weekend free and so contacted these guys a few times while I decided what to do with any spare time I had. As luck would had it we did have a free weekend and so booked a full day tour. Hung was a fabulous, educated host who manoeuvred around everyone’s needs. The experience itself was seamless, well designed with excellent commentary. We had a wonderful day out in Ninh Binh with our guide Huy. We were picked up in a really nice limousine van from our hotel, and were well accommodated for even though our hotel was a bit out of the way. We chose Authentic Ninh Binh as our tour company as they advertise small groups only and really wanted this experience. Huy was a very attentive tour guide, and incredibly knowledgeable, and really made the experience extra enjoyable for us, checking in to see how we were feeling and if there was anything else we wanted to see. He really made sure we enjoyed our time by planning the day according to the unpredictable weather, even though our visit was during off season and on a particularly hot day. We loved visiting the 600 year old pagoda and taking in all the natural sights as an escape from busy Hanoi. Would absolutely book through this company again.

My girlfriend and I had a fantastic trip with Justin and a great bunch of people from different corners of the world. We were collected from our hotel promptly before being driven 2 hours to Ninh Binh in a luxury minibus. We then did a very sweaty hike to a fabulous viewing point over about 90 mins / 2 hours. Next up was Justin’s scenic bike ride around the local villages and local nature, where saw goats, cows, cats, chickens and dogs. Before we settled in for a communal lunch at a local eatery. After lunch we moved onto our final activity, which was a spectacular boat ride through the gorges down below the peak we’d earlier hiked up to. Fantastic day and a highly recommended excursion.

Vu was our private tour guide today and he made this excursion more than we could have hoped for! We visited the temples at Hoa Lu Ancient Capital, the Bich Dong Pagodas, took a boat ride through the caves of Tam Coc, and hiked the Lying Dragon Mountain and the Mua Cave underneath. Vu provided us with a history lesson as well as catching us up on today’s culture and traditions. The trip provided us with private transport, lunch, waters, and included the costs for all the admissions to the different attractions. Vu made this trip effortless for us and so enjoyable. I would recommend this tour for those who want to see Ninh Binh.
