Know More about this tour

Discover the Old Town of Hoi An after the sun has gone down – not only is it the best way to escape the midday heat, it’s also the perfect excuse to dig in to its tasty street food scene!

Your Hoi An food tour starts around sunset, and will walk you through local cafes, food stalls, markets, and restaurants, giving you a filling food adventure for the memory books.

First up – a local bakery that has been making the tastiest banh mi in town for over twenty years. They use the freshest local ingredients and are famous for their banh mi, a scrumptious sandwich that will fire up your taste buds and get them ready for the flavours ahead!

From one local fave to another, next you'll join locals at a small eatery, taking a seat on the ubiquitous small plastic chairs and sampling tasty BBQ pork rolled with rice paper and fresh herbs. Served with typical soy dipping sauce, this dish is one of the highlights of the local food scene and an absolute must-devour.

Your food tour of Hoi An continues into the atmospheric heart of the city as we head straight for the central market. What awaits us there are hundreds of street hawkers and food stalls selling a staggering array of local produce, including fresh noodles, sweet jelly, seasonal fruits, and live seafood. Your knowledgeable local guide will walk you through the colorful array of ingredients, filling you in on the most popular dishes in Hoi An and the significance of these foods to the traditional culture of central Vietnam.

From here, you’ll dig even deeper into the local food scene, passing through a maze of tiny alleys to emerge at one of our fave (secret) restaurants in Hoi An, where you’ll sample two of Hoi An’s specialties: deep fried wonton and white rose dumplings.

Believe it or not, there’s more food to come! Your Hoi An food tour continues to a street vendor where a plate of chicken rice awaits. Be sure to save space, though, as you still have yet another treat in store: it cake for dessert in a local’s home. Sweet, non?!

You’ll finish our Hoi An food adventure at a local cafe near the iconic Japanese covered bridge, which is the perfect spot to conclude our culinary escapades. Top off the tour with a Vietnamese coffee or beer, take in the gentle pace of our beloved Hoi An, and reflect on your fave dishes of the evening (if you can pick!).

    • This was an extremely good value for money trip that gave an interesting and enjoyable insight into Vietnamese food. We visited several local places and had the chance to sample many different dishes that were all excellent. Many of the places were off the main street and we would not have found them without our excellent tour guide, who gave a great insight into local cooking methods and tasty dishes. we had plenty to eat on the tour and did not need to eat out at the end of the night as we were both full after sampling some great local dishes.

    • Guide was delightful and food was the best.

    • A disappointing food tour that could have been much better. The meeting point was easy to locate and our guide was friendly with reasonable English. The tour began well with banh mi at a famous food shop front. This was followed by a prawn pancake in the local food market. However thereafter the food was of a lesser standard and in odd locations that were off the main pathways. We were expecting to eat more street food from market vendors and the like. We were disappointed to be taken to a silk factory and shop towards the end of the tour. This was an unnecessary distraction on a food tour!

    • Tour was ok.... our guide didn't seem to have the passion and knowledge of food as other food tours we have had. I don't believe we got enough food for the amount we spent per person everything was shared even though we paid a per person amount. Our guide was lovely though :).

    • The intrepid female who was our guide doesn't understand customer service. I'd already done a food tour by night in Hanoi that rocked so my expectations were higher. She didn't explain what the food was so I found myself having to explain it to the other people in the tour given my limited understanding from what I learned in Hanoi. She rushed us throughout the whole tour and even walked ahead of us without minding if we were there or not. Not so nice :. The food was tasty and authentic!

    • Good experience in regards to eating at places you may not necessarily find or wish to go into. Loved the little shortcuts through small alleys and our guide Bong was fantastic and very knowledgeable and friendly.

    • Great experience. Will take you to many places you would otherwise not find.

    • Fantastic experience. Amazing variety of food from places that we tourist would otherwise not consider going. The guide was very professional and happy to answer questions. Highly recommend this tour.

    • We enjoyed this tour and would recommend it to all. We experienced great Vietnamese food and met some of the best chefs in Hoi an.
A walk though the night markets was worthwhile and the guide shared her knowledge of the life of Vietnamese people. A great night.

    • This was a fun way to learn about different types of vietnamese food. it helped us gain confidence in eating at the food markets later, and took us to small back alley restaurants that we would never have found or tried on our own. A great tour an an introduction to Hoi An old city eateries.
