Overview
Embark on a small-group, 3-hour whale watching and wildlife sightseeing tour from Hoonah, Alaska. Every season humpback whales come in large numbers to Hoonah to feed on the nutrient-rich waters of Glacier Bay and Icy Strait before migrating south again for the winter. The whale population begins to arrive in Hoonah in May, and stays through September.
Itinerary:
You will be picked up at the Icy Strait Point Excursions Hub , then driven into Hoonah where you will board your whale watch boat. Then off you go to view Alaska's beautiful scenery and wildlife. You will see humpback whales, you may see Orca's, Seals, Sea Lions, Sea Otters and a large amount of birds. Afterwards you can choose to stay in town for a bit or head back. We have shuttles that run every 30 minutes from the Hoonah Travel Adventures Transportation Hub.

This whale watching cruise was a definite bucket list check off! Beautiful clear day. We saw over a dozen humpback whales and 3 Orca. One humpback came up right next to the boat! OMG! Looking at me eye ball to eye ball! The captain has lived on Hoonah for many years. Enjoyed his narrative of the island and life there. The crew members were very friendly and helpful.

We were not disappointed in this trip! It ended up being one of our highlights of our two weeks visit to Alaska. We were assigned Captain Paul Comolli and along with his excellent staff, they brought life in Alaska to a relatable level and kept us fully entertained. Captain Comolli made sure we got our best views of whales and then made sure we saw Sea Otters and Sea Lions up close as well. Transportation was perfect to get to the boat and after the tour we had the opportunity to explore Hoonah. I cannot say enough good things about this tour and highly recommend booking.

It was cancelled due to boat problem. Since this was the only excursion I paid for, I was totally bummed. Did not even see a whale on our cruise. Honestly, a company like this with no back up boats? Unconscionable.

My recent whale watching adventure in Icy Strait Point, Alaska, left me with mixed feelings and a sense of disappointment. Prior to booking, I was filled with excitement about the opportunity to witness these majestic creatures in their natural habitat. However, certain aspects of the experience fell short of expectations, leaving me with a less-than-ideal memory. When I initially booked the excursion at a local kiosk, the staff informed me that the group would consist of around 30 people. This prospect of a small, intimate gathering was one of the factors that influenced my decision to join. However, upon arriving at the boat, it quickly became apparent that the group size far exceeded what had been communicated. With more than 130 individuals on board, the promised intimate encounter was replaced by a crowded and somewhat chaotic environment. Adding to my disappointment was the lack of transparency and the challenge of verifying information due to the absence of phone service in the area. I attempted to address my concerns by reaching out to customer service before writing this review. Unfortunately, my attempts to seek clarification and express my dissatisfaction went unanswered, leaving me feeling unheard and frustrated. Despite these setbacks, the natural beauty of Icy Strait Point managed to shine through, offering glimpses of the awe-inspiring whales and the breathtaking scenery that the region is known for. The guides on board did their best to provide information and insights, which was a positive aspect of the tour. In conclusion, my whale watching experience in Icy Strait Point, Alaska, was marred by a discrepancy in group size, a lack of transparency, and a disappointing lack of response from customer service. While there were moments of wonder and beauty, these were overshadowed by the overall sense of letdown. I hope that my feedback, along with that of other visitors, prompts the necessary improvements to ensure a more authentic and satisfying encounter with Alaska's marine life for future adventurers. and Disappointing

Captain Paul was great. He was so knowledgeable about the area and local wildlife. It was fascinating to hear his stories of living in Hoonah. And best of all, he knew where the whales would be. We saw so many whakes, both humpbacks and orcas and a few if the whales swam right next to our boat. Awesome trip!

We saw lots of whales including Orca's!! Captain Paul was super informative and interesting to listen to. He has a lot of life experiences that lend to an interesting tour. The boat was warm and comfortable. I would recommend this tour!!

Captain Denise was wonderful...very educational and engaging with us. We saw several whales, bubble feeding, breeching the water and diving. Excellent!
