We were picked up from our hotel at the time stated and when we arrived at the farm we were welcomed and fitted up with helmets and clothing for our ride. The farm is a family run business and you can see this in the pride taken. The staff are very friendly and find the right horse for your abilities be it a novice or experienced rider. The trails and the scenery is excellent. As we had booked the full day we had lunch at the farm and a great chat with the owner. In the afternoon we went on a different trail and the guides split our group up allowing the experienced riders to go out separately from the novice riders. This allowed us to go quicker and experience the different gates of the Icelandic horses. The guides were fantastic and we enjoyed it that much we booked up and went again. I would definitely recommend visiting and will be back myself next time I visit Iceland
Thanks for the great experience
Visiting Laxnes Farm was a real highlight of my trip to Iceland. The scenery was insanely beautiful, the staff at the farm was so lovely and the horses were extremely well behaved. The farm itself is gorgeous and eating homemade soup surrounded by the mountains and horses and adorable barn dog was such a wonderful break in between a morning and afternoon full of riding. The farm owners were also so lovely. I will absolutely come back here next time I visit Iceland.
Amazing views especially when going into the mountains, funny guides, and we had a great time. However, if this is your first time riding --- proceed with caution. The guides are very hands-off and did not give much instruction.
an absolutely fantastic place!!!! i was there last april when i went to iceland, and wanted to go back there again.
they had my booking, and treated me royally. it was a beautiful day spent with beautiful people and beautiful horses!
a wonderful day riding the Icelandic horses. definitely a good choice.
Phenomenal all-day experience. The guy who owns the farm and who looks like he just walked off the set of Vikings was great- friendly, engaging and funny. The rides in both the morning and afternoon, led by experienced and friendly guides, were better than anything I have had in the U.S. We were able to trot, canter, experience the unique 5th-gait of Icelandic horses, and gallop. In the U.S., because of liability issues, you can rarely do something like this. This means that if you say that you can ride, you need to be able to ride. Accommodation is also made for those who are not experienced riders and who want a quieter, slower trail ride. This is the second time I have used Laxnes Farm, and I think they are one of the best horse farms in the Reykjavik area.
My daughter and I both loved it! Great people, cute dogs, great views, fabulous lunch and wonderful sweet horses.
Had an AMAZING time on this trip. One warning: on the second part of the ride, despite none of us being experienced riders, we went cantering and even galloping. It was super fun, but definitely not for the faint of heart! An awesome day trip for adventurous travelers and horse lovers. Plus, the farm is family run.
