Great experience. I’ve never seen anything like it!. Our guide Michael and the ice cave guide Alex were wonderful!

This is a special day of beautiful natural landscapes and fun! Visiting three spots in one day can be daunting, but Michael was such a great guide and made the day so easy and stress-free. He drove us around to the sites, telling us about the geology and history of the area as we went. The moderate hike up to the ice caves was rewarded with a breathtaking tour inside that was informational and fun (complete with old-fashioned oil lamps!). Michael suggested a quick lunch at the chalet on the way down, and it was “lecker” Bavarian food with a great view! The waterfall was nice, but I would suggest leaving more time for the more spectacular ice caves and salt mines. The salt mines exceeded our expectations with a wonderful multi-media tour including a change into miners’ overalls, a ride on a mining train, tons of historical information about the importance of salt in the region and details about salt mining through the ages, two fun miners’ slides, and even a short underground boat ride. This tour is perfect for families. Our kids are older and thought it was great fun. On the way back to our lodgings, Michael found a little time for a quick tour of Salzburg and gave us lots of ideas for sites to see and places to eat during our stay. Get out of the city for a day, get a little exercise, see and learn about the ice and salt of the Alps, and enjoy Michael’s energetic hospitality. Easily our best day of a wonderful trip to Bavaria!

Ice caves and surrounding area incredible! Mike our tour guide was fabulous! Had a delicious lunch outside with recommendations from our guide at the restaurant near the ice cave. The views of the mountains from that patio were breathtaking!

We had a wonderful day with Michael as our tour guide. The scenery was spectacular, and he had excellent info about the local area. Well worth having a private tour as we were able to see the ice caves, waterfalls and salt mines in one day.

This was our first Private Tour using Viator. We have used Viator extensively, taking over 15 tours. Given this was a Private Tour, it was expensive. Really didn't know what to expect. Well, it was a GREAT experience. Viator used a local company called Salzburg Private Tours, which was somewhat confusing because I didn't understand that it was a company name at first. Anyway, our Guide/Driver, named Carlos (from Portugal) was simply AWESOME! He promptly showed up to pick us up at our hotel in a Mercedes Van (new and well maintained). He was polite, professional and extremely knowledgeable about the history of Salzburg. On our journey to the Ice Caves (first stop), he shared his tremendous knowledge with us. Based on experience, we started with the Ice Caves to avoid the crowds and that was really smart. We were one of the first groups (second one) to tour the caves that day. When we came out, there were a lot of people queued up to get in. Then we went to the Waterfalls (Golling). It was a nice, short excursion. Nothing spectacular, but nice. Then on to the the Salt Mines. Again, their experience paid off as they took us to a salt mine that was in Austria and not the one used by major tour companies. didn't have to wait in line. Everything was perfectly timed and scheduled. He gave us flexibility to make any changes. We added a stop (on his recommendation) to take a Luge/ Toboggan run. That was a lot of fun. GREAT EXPERIENCE. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
