  • For an overcast day in September, the balmy temperature was no problem at all. The people who ran the farm were very personable and the horses were very well taken care of. I'm not sure what all gaits we did, but it was an awesome feeling to glide at a flying pace -unique to viking horses.

  • Excellent in all aspects. A truly memorable experience.

  • This was the perfect way to start our Iceland adventure. Our plane was 3 1/2 hours late so we missed our pick up. I called Laxnes Farm and they went out of their way to get us on that tour. I had not ridden a horse in over 30 years so they paired me with a horse they said would take care of me. This horse was great. I felt safe and gained more confidence as the ride went on. Our guides were friendly and fun and made sure everyone was keeping up and staying on the route. We got to see a lot of the countryside. Afterwards, they had coffee, hot cocoa, and Christmas bread for us. It was a great introduction to Iceland and I highly recommend supporting this family run farm.

  • Excellent trip. We went as a family with two teenagers who loved it. You don’t need to be an experienced rider. The staff at the horse farm are great and ensure that everyone is comfortable before leaving. They provide snowsuits, helmets and gloves. It was freezing in Dec so wrap up warm.

  • This tour was pretty incredible. Magical is the word that comes to mind. We did the 10am pickup in December, so we got to see the sun rise over the course of the ride and ride the horses through icy rivers and snow drifts.

We started with walking and a bit of trotting, and then split the group into beginner and advanced. We took the advanced track and got to ride the different gaits of the horses, including a pretty fast gallop. They were herd animals so they tended to just follow each other without needing much instruction from our end. Olina the horse was extremely steady and didn't let me down even as I was holding on for dear life!

Afterward we got to spend a little time hanging out with the horses. There wasn't much information given about the history of the farm or the horses, which was the one downside. But other than that, this tour was amazing and the people who operate the farm were so warm and welcoming. I was hesitant to do this tour not having much experience with horses, but I'm so glad I went!

  • My horse Indiana Jones took me on a great adventure!!

  • This was so much fun. The people that ran the tour were so friendly. The horses were unlike any I’ve ridden, so laid back and easy. We crossed icy rivers and spent lots of personal time with the horses. Highly recommend

  • Unfortunately we missed this tour due to a miscommunication. An email was sent changing the pickup location less than an hour prior to pickup, which we did not see until it was too late. Since the rest of our visit was fully booked we did not pursue trying to re-schedule the tour so we do not know how accommodating they may have or have not been. Disappointing but if given the opportunity we would try it again.

  • What an amazing experience. The owner of the farm picked us up and immediately made us feel welcome. He has a great sense of humor and truly cares that you have a great experience.
The horses were beautiful and the landscape they took us through was breathtaking. The guides that accompanied us were always watching out for everyone's safety.
    Thank you for this experience!!

  • This was one of the highlights of our trip. HIGHLY recommend. This originally was one of the optional tours on our itinerary and we weren't sure we were going to go through with booking. We would have been VERY sorry if we had decided to skip out. We were picked up at our hotel, taken to the beautiful farm, given warm wind resistant clothes to put on, and then went out to the paddock to have a horse selected for us. The best part about this trip is they give you a horse based on your experience. I'm a rider, so I wanted a fast horse who would provide an adventure to remember. Vinir meaning friend was the best horse ever for what I wanted out of the excursion. He was fast paced and very polite. The tour group splits into two after the waterfall midway, the slow group and the fast group. I opted for the fast group and the ride home was exhilarating. The tour guides are excellent at making sure everyone is comfortable along the way. DO THIS TOUR!
