Know More about this tour

Start your venture to Iztaccihuatl Volcano early in the morning with an expert local guide. Meet your group and relax aboard your comfortable vehicle, heading eastbound for two hours until you reach a point to stop for snacks.

You will be close to the foot of the dormant Iztaccihuatl Volcano, also called The Sleeping Woman or White Woman for the four snow-capped peaks that resemble its popular names. Youll need the energy for your 3-hour ascent up the mountain!

Continue your journey by car through the Valley of Mexico, a highland plateau located in the Trans-Mexican Volcanic Belt. Your guide will drive you through Paso de Corts, a mountain pass named for the 16th-century Spanish conquistadores who crossed on their way to Tenochtitlan.

When you reach La Joya, begin your ascent up the volcano, starting at an elevation of 12,000 feet (3,700 meters). There are several hiking routes toward the summit for a range of skill levels from novices to professional mountain climbers; your guide will lead your group up an intermediate-level path for both beginners and those with more experience to enjoy.

As you climb, admire the stunning and changeable landscape, including seasonal snow and a diversity of flora. Enjoy the stillness and quiet serenity of your surroundings, which add an extra touch to the breathtaking views of the Valley of Mexico below.

Depending on the comfort of your group, you may climb as high as 13,800 to 15,800 feet (4,200-4,800 meters), getting close to the permanently snow-covered peaks and nearby glaciers. Catch breathtaking views of Popocatepetl, also called Smoking Mountain, an active volcano south of Iztaccihuatl.

Your guide will ensure adequate time to take pictures, enjoy the panoramic vista or simply reflect on the tranquility of the mountain landscape. When youre ready, prepare for the descent and enjoy a delicious lunch (own expense). Choose from a menu of quesadillas, tamales, birria (spicy meat stew) or other delicious dishes. After satisfying your appetite, return to Mexico City with your guide, arriving at around 6pm.

  • The actual climb was beautiful once you get to the first resting spot. Its tougher than you think. Issues were poor communication from the guide. No one really knew what was happening and how far we were going. The 2-3 hour drive to the volcano was in a very uncomfortable van with tiny windows. Other than that, it was a great experience. I would do the climb again, but with a different tour company.

  • It was challenging, very challenging. It was also great. It was a real hike up the mountain and it was a lot fun. The guide allowed people to go at their own pace but also stopped a few times to let people catch up and make sure people caught their breath. Highly recommend to anyone able bodied.

  • Lousy tour, bad guide, do something else with your money.
This 'tour' is incredibly deceptive, what we ended up doing was walking along access roads as cars drove past us in the woods. In total, it was about 7 miles of walking. If you expect to experience what you see in the picture, you'll be extremely disappointed, as you don't get near any kind of volcano...at best they can be seen off in the distance.
The tour guide was bad. It seemed like he tried to drop everyone, and was successful in losing 1/3 of the group. He didn't bother checking how anyone was doing despite being up at 12,000 feet. He literally listened to his MP3 player the entire way up.
Don't do this unless you want to walk through some dirt roads in a forest and see cars drive by you. The only good view you get is at the parking lot.

  • Guide was experienced and it is a safe tour. Four gates total to the summit and this tour can maximally make to #2. most likely some member of the group unlikely adapt to the altitude or time constraint. The bus stopped at a lunch place for 20 peso tacos, which is not bad. Guide’s English is basic.

  • Didn't go all the way to the top, not even close to seeing snow.... You only go to the foot of the vulcano, but first you need to walk 7km. The way towards was beautifull tho.

  • We didn't hike on the volcano that day.

  • A must-do while in Mexico City!

  • The tour has been amazing, weather perfect, but our guide were too hurry, we expect to hike a little bit more high, our expectation was at least to 4500 m, but at the sign 3990 he wanted to go back. Pity....

  • 2.6km is a trek? People in sandels and plimsolls!!! Photo completely misleading. Don't accept people with inadequate footwear.

Most amazingly Driver stopped us wearing seatbelts. He ensured they could not be accessed. Said that they were not working. They were.

    Location brilliant
