Krabi Province boasts some spectacular scenery on both land and water. Limestone karsts rise vertically creating one of the most scenic destinations in Thailand. Driving along Krabis back roads is a true pleasure where plantations of rubber or pineapple are planted in rows and interspersed with the chaos of verdant jungle fringes. Coconut trees further add to the unbelievable tropical scene. And this scene is not only around your accommodation as we will show you when heading over to Phang Nga Bay. The Bay is a stunning area famed for its many dramatic limestone karst, forming the background of one of James Bonds greatest movies made. A boat tour is the perfect way to explore Phang Nga Bay, see the distinctive and majestic rock formations jut vertically out of the emerald green waters; at low tide hidden lagoons can be found through exposed cave tunnels which can be entered by sea canoes.
On this day tour we travel across the bay on a traditional Thai long tail boats taking in the sights of the beautiful mangrove forests and karst formations on view. Here in the bay we stop to visit Phang Nga's most famous limestone rock. Tapu Island, known locally as James Bond Island. This name was given as it was one of the back drop locations in the film The Man with The Golden Gun". Sea and tide permitting, we explore natural hidden wonders of the karsts by sea canoe. We glide our canoes through large rocks and visit secret lagoons only exposed at low tide. We make a visit Panyi village a chance to glimpse the fascinating life style of this fishing village on Koh Panyee, built entirely on stilts over the water. Our next stop is lunch, enjoy an authentic Thai lunch.
After the boat tour of Phang Nga Bay, we make our way back to the hotel but not without a stop at the Suwan Khuha Monkey Cave Temple. Known around the area as the Wat Tham, it is one of the most important temples in the province due to its archaeological and historical background. And, as the name implies, there are plenty of monkeys around so be mindful when entering this spiritual side for any dangling personal belonging as they are often seen taking whatever they can get their hands on. Weather permitting; a good part at the end of the day will be spent for a moment of relaxation, alongside a fresh-water stream that originates from the nearby tropical forest. We highly recommend taking a quick dip after a morning filled with activities.
A scenic ride back via the eastern coast line of the Phang Nga province, we head further south and reach Krabi and your accommodation at around 17:00 hrs.
