Board the 6-passenger Java Cat at the Key West Historic Seaport and set sail with your small group for the Key West Wildlife Refuge. After dropping anchor, your captain assists you into a high-quality sea kayak with a comfortable backrest and provides instruction. Its easy paddling in the tranquil waters of The Lakes region, passing through mangrove islands and seagrass beds.
Youll discover abundant marine life amid the tropical fauna and have a chance to touch sea cucumbers, jellyfish, hermit crabs, sea stars, sea slugs and tulip snails in their banded shells. Other species to observe (not touch) are dolphins, sea turtles, rays, non-aggressive sharks, spiny lobsters, sponges, and crabs.
After kayaking, youll sail to another area known for its coral and sponge gardens easily viewed in the crystal-clear waters.
