Know More about this tour

Start your tour with a pickup from your central Tel Aviv hotel, and then relax on the 45-minute journey by air-conditioned coach to the Mount of Olives, a mountain ridge just east of Jerusalem. Stop at the summit and soak up views of Jerusalems Old City while hearing about its links to Christianity; famously, Jerusalem is the city where Jesus is believed to have lived and died.

Often referred to in the New Testament, the Mount of Olives provided the setting for countless biblical tales. On a stroll down its slopes, stop to visit places mentioned in such tales such as Dominus Flevit Church, where Jesus is said to have wept as he predicted the destruction of Jerusalem.

At the foot of the Mount of Olives, head inside the Roman Catholic Church of All Nations (Basilica of the Agony) near the Garden of Gethsemane. Built on the foundations of two historical churches, the present-day place of worship was built with funds from several different nations, attesting to its name. See a series of mosaics depicting Christ, and learn about the stone shrine enclosed within the church where Jesus is believed to have prayed on the night he was arrested.

Pass through the Jewish cemetery in Kidron Valley, and then enter the history-steeped Old City through Lions Gate. Enjoy a break for lunch at your own expense, and then meet back up with your guide to continue your tour. Stop for photos by the Pool of Bethesda, a landmark described in the Gospel of St John, and visit the Crusader St Anne Church, built on the supposed birthplace of the mother of the Virgin Mary, Anne.

Take a walk past the Convent of the Sisters of Zion, and note an ancient pavement engraved with games played by Roman soldiers in bygone days. The convent marks the start point of Via Dolorosa, the important Christian pilgrimage route where Jesus is said to have walked, carrying his cross, to his crucifixion.

After taking photos and chatting to your guide about the religious site, return to your coach to travel back to Tel Aviv, and then finish your day with a hotel drop-off.

  • Absolutely fabulous tour. Very lucky to have Ami as our guide....extremely knowledgeable about all things. Very steep walk so wear trainers etc. cover about 8 - 10 miles. Gives different views on things also so you can have your own opinion.

  • Excellent trip!! This trip didn't go to the wailing wall, but I asked as a favor, and my tour guide accepted my request. Jerusalem is a beautiful and safe city!!

  • Very knowledgeable guide who read from the Bible at each spot for reference.
You must be in very good physical shape for the walking- up and down many hills
    And steps.
    Highly recommended

  • Really Loved this tour! Our tour guide was very informative and I learned so much from him. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone!

  • this was a very hot day and a lot of walking but worth it.
bus drops you off at the top of mt olives and you walk down the hill to the town stopping to see churches on the way and all the important places with explanations from the guide. couple of stops for water and shopping while you literally walk the footsteps of jesus

  • My email confirmation said to be ready at my hotel at 6:30 AM, which I was. However, I was not picked up until 7:35 AM, so I stood in my hotel lobby for over an hour. I had 3 different tour guides. One person drove us from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem where we met another guide who walked us through the city very slowly. We missed our connection with another tour group, so we had to wait for a company taxi to take us to the other group who was already at a museum. We missed seeing several stops because of this. When we finally met the other group at the museum, we only had 30 minutes to spend there. The group was late returning to the bus, so our driver my third tour guide drove very erratically back to Tel Aviv. At one point he had to slam on the breaks on the highway because traffic was stopped and he was distracted because he was talking on his cell phone. Several jackets and a backpack went flying through the bus. This made me very nervous. Your drivers should not be talking on their personal cell phones while driving a bus load of tourists on a tour. When we arrived back in Tel Aviv and were being dropped off at our hotels, the driver stopped a block away from my hotel. He didn't want to take the time to cross an intersection and drive me up to the entrance of my hotel, so after walking all day for my tour, I had to walk up to my hotel. I will never use this company again.

  • The trip started off just a bit shaky due to me not getting the change in the pickup time. I originally was notified of a 630am pickup and it was changed to 715am. Once I was picked up the rest was good.
The overall tour was outstanding. The guide was very cordial and knowledgeable. He took the necessary time to answer questions and offered great explanations which included reading from the Bible. The flow was great....I must point out the tour was not for individuals who had mobility issues...walking is a must. The title of the tour, "In the Footsteps of Jesus" was an accurate title. The tour should be coupled with another tour that covers the Stations of the Cross. Please pass on to the guide on the April 15th tour, cannot remember his full name, starts with a S...he did a great job!!!

  • Tamar the guide was vey friendly and her religious knowledge was passionate and thorough. She made everyone feel comfortable and not rushed, so they could enjoy jesus' last week in living the ancient city. She even got us a taxi, when it got too hot for us to walk much further, as the tour involved a lot of walking in a hot city. The group consisted of people from many different faiths and Tamar answered all the questions sensitively, enthusiastically and in depth. There was much to see and lunch and facilities were provided at a reasonable cost. We enjoyed seeing all the sites visited - the Graves on the western slope of the Mount of Olives (a jewish burial site) and also the Pater Noster, the Garden of Gethsemane and the Church of All Nations. The skyline of mixed faiths and places of worship was most inspiring! Be aware that this is a walking tour, although we managed ok (we are both over 55, and went in the cooler months of March).
