Know More about this tour

In Venice'sCannaregio district, meet your guide and embark on your food walking tour of one of the city's most charming and historic areas, which has been featured in The Merchant of Venice film starring Al Pacino. As you explore, learn about the Jewish ghetto's rich culture and luxurious food traditions.

Although an English word, 'ghetto' originates from a Venetian term that is now used by people all over the world. Discover the delights of the ghetto as you visit six restaurants to sample local foods, including Italian gelato. Your tour takes you across the ghetto and Cannaregio, which is home to an abundance of canals, Gothic churches, dainty bridges, and more. Walk along the streets and squares of the old ghetto (Gheto Vecio), and listen to interesting facts from your guide to enhance your experience.

See the rabbis house and historic synagogues (outside), and taste traditional Jewish-Venetian dishes like Sarde al Saor and artichoke bottoms, which are lovingly accompanied by fine kosher wine. Plus, take a leisurely and informative stroll along the romantic walkways known as fondamenta.

On the other side of Rialto, the oldest bridge out of 400 in Venice, indulge your taste buds with risotto and pasta at places where local gondoliers and residents love to eat. Then visit an old bakery where you will be served Venetian-Jewishbiscuits and cakes. During your walk along the alleyways, take in enchanting views of Venice at night with its churches standing out against the canals, and sip Italian sparkling wine.

This tour combines art, culture, historical information, and food and wine tastings. For good measure, it is recommended that you come hungry, as youll be leaving full and replenished.

Our tour guide was exceptionally knowledgable of the history of the Jewish Gheto, and was able to point out so many great details as we walked. The food was excellent, she provided great recommendation for food and wine. Definitely wish I had been introduced to the Venice style of eating previously!

This tour company went above and beyond for me and my 4 friends who were looking forward to this tour as a highlight of our trip. A mistake on my part led to some juggling, and I have to say the company stepped up. I am so glad they did.
Our guide Micheal was very thoughtful and knowledgeable. Our time in the Jewish Ghetto was full of commentary. What an interesting place to see.
The stops along the way for snacks and drinks were just perfect. (Don't eat prior to this tour...)
Walking with Micheal while he spoke of local places of interest was a joy! We ended with a lovely gelato, and brought home some of the best memories of our trip. Don't miss this tour!

Silvia was our guide. She knew all the local histories and places of importance. The 6 interactive food and drink places she took us were amazing in the selection and quality representing the local faire. We even ran into some people she took before, returning to one of their stops, and they could not say enough great things about her. Our allergies and food preferences were taken into consideration as well. I would repeat this tour that’s how awesome it was.

This tour was the perfect balance of information and great food! Our guide was very knowledgeable, and we learned a lot about this area of Venice that is slightly off the beaten path. All of our stops for food were good and there was plenty of food and beverages. We were quite full by the end of the night!

This tour started off off in a restaurant where we had enough food to call it a meal, we still had for more places to go. Come hungry for this tour because you are going to leave it. stuffed

Ok...first things first: my wife and I were the only two on the tour so what started out as a group tour ended up being a private tour. Wow - how lucky was that! We had Sylvia's full attention and she played the biggest part in making this a five star experience. She was extremely knowledgeable not just about the food part of the tour but also the local history and culture - all of which she gladly shared with us. We really enjoyed her company and sense of humour - it felt like being out with a friend. The food was excellent and abundant...a light lunch is all you'll need if you're doing this tour. A great experience!! Thanks Sylvia - you're awesome.

Interesting tourWhich definitely includes the Jewish section but is not focused on the Jewish section. Not for anyone who is not able to work 2 to 3 miles easily. Valentina was extremely knowledgeable and the six food stops were delicious
