Know More about this tour

Together with your travel companions (a maximum of four people), meet your private driver-guide at your centrally located Reykjavk accommodations at 7:30am. Jump aboard your private vehicle and get ready for a full day of adventure around the south coast of Iceland.

Drive east out of Reykjavk, passing a geothermal power plant and lots of steaming boreholes, giving the area a mystic ambiance and the distinct smell of sulphur. Over the Hellisheidi pass, continue across the southern lowlands.

Make your first stop at the 197-foot (60-meter) Seljalandsfoss waterfall, where you can walk behind a magnificent wall of water. After all the excitement of Seljalandsfoss and getting a little bit wet, continue the journey to Reynisfjara beach and Skogafoss.

Take a leisurely stroll along the black sands of Reynisfjara, but beware of powerful waves that can sweep you off your feet if you get too close. Offshore, spot the Reynisdrangar, basalt rock stacks that rise from the sea, and the surrounding cliffs scattered with caves.

The next stop is Skogafoss waterfall. This majestic waterfall is one of the most visited sites in Iceland and for a good reason. On a sunny day you might spot a double rainbow appearing through the spray. From Skogafoss head toward Dyrholaey and marvel at the ice tongues of Skeidararjokull, Morsarjokull, and Skaftafellsjokull glaciers.

Travel through the vast desert of Skeidararsandur, an area that can be prone to sand storms. Many of Iceland's biggest glacial rivers run into the Atlantic Ocean off the south shore and carry millions of tons of black volcanic sand, constantly altering the shape of the coastline and creating vast black deserts.

Next, visit Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon, one of Iceland's greatest natural wonders. Huge blocks of ice constantly break off the Breidamerkurjokull glacier and icebergs of all shapes and sizes, and in many hues of blue, turquoise, and white, float in the lagoon. The lagoon is not very wide but it is up to 820 feet (250 meters) deep, making it the deepest lake in Iceland. The thrilling environment is constantly changing as the massive glacier tongue retreats. There's time to walk along the shores of the lagoon and, to get an even closer view, you can choose a short cruise (additional cost) aboard an amphibious vessel or a motorboat to sail between cracked ice formations.

Relax on the smooth journey back to Reykjavk, arriving back at your accommodations at around 9pm.

Please note: The Tour.is available from April through October. Note that weather can affect the availability of the tours. The boat tour might not be available in April/early May due to large amounts of ice in lagoon.
