Overview

I founded and own HONEST ECO. With Kentucky bluegrass roots and a B.S. in Biology, I found a world with a blue sea too alluring to ignore. I arrived to Key West in 2005. Now I have 10+ years of experience studying Biology and being on the water in Key West. I now own a small business with my wife and 2 young kids. We are trying to make a big impact by educating and leading by example. I'm very passionate about being respectful to the wildlife and the environment

The staff was incredible, from captain Billy, Brian and Annie. The knowledge that was shared about Key West was so interesting. The food was amazing and the day on the water was more then our family had hoped for a return trip is a must

I had such a marvelous and amazing time that I signed up for the sunset snorkel and sail before I ever got off the boat! The crew (Captain Kyle, Brian, and Adam) were all knowledgeable, fun, and very attentive to everyone. Food was absolutely delicious and fresh (Brian cut and prepared it fresh before each snack and lunch). Snorkeling, kayaking, and sailing were all top notch and beautiful. I highly recommend any Honest Eco trip for solo, couples, and families!

Rachel was the marine biologist extraordinaire on our tour and Jeff was our driver and live entertainment! Rachel was so knowledgeable and happy to nerd out with us science geeks, great personality and eco teacher. Jeff kept us entertained with his personality and love of life. We had an amazing day on the water with dolphins swimming around us while we anchored and Rachel educating us (love love love) about the marine mammals. Then off we sailed to a very special place teeming with fish, sponges and again great education from Rachel. Next stop was Jeff hauling kayaks down and helping us launch off to the mangroves. We experienced sea and bird life on the mangrove isle. Thank you to our amazing crew, the boat which was perfect with shade for us easy burns and plenty of areas to see this beauty called KEY WEST and healthy delicious organic food made locally. Also, plenty of cold water to drink, a very enjoyable and memorable day.

We chose Honest Eco after a trip on The Squid back in 2020. This time we went for the 6 hours tour and it was one of the most memorable days we’ve had on the ocean. Captain Kyle and our resident marine biologist Rachel were fantastic hosts and guides for the day. The weather couldn’t have been better, with calm seas and sunshine (although a spot of rain on the way). Everything about the day was amazing. Small group of like-minded guests, excellent lunch, lots of knowledge about the ocean and wildlife from Rachel. The snorkelling was the best ever. The water was warm (we didn’t use wetsuit, even being in the sea for about an hour), and calm and clear. We have always used flippers when snorkelling but this time we just used the float jackets provided and floated on the surface, watching the world beneath us. What a world it was. Rachel pointed out so much wildlife including lobsters, crabs, lion fish, sharks and much more. Rachel also used a go-pro so no need to take any photos of anything and she shared everything after the trip. It was truly magical. Then we stopped for an excellent lunch served up from a local organic deli (Date & Thyme, a must visit), before heading off to the mangrove islands for kayaking. We’ve kayaked in the keys before, and there’s always so much to see. Rachel accompanied us and again gave us lots of information, and we even took over the go pro for a video through the mangroves. Like the time before, we didn’t manage to see any dolphins on the trip, but they are wild animals and don’t put on a show for travellers, so it didn’t really matter. We loved the eco-credentials of this tour company. They really do care. Such a shame that the reef has reduced so much, but we must hold out hope for our oceans and do everything we can to keep them clean and teeming with life. Thank you Honest Eco, and thank you Rachel and Captain Kyle for a beautiful day.

Captain Jesse and Rachel are great people with tons of marine knowledge. Jesse even ask me if I have any questions and explain different coral reefs to me. Rachel prepared wonderful eco-friendly food and fruits. During our snorkelling and kayaking, she lead us and talk about things we see along the way and take picture for us. I wish the snorkelling time could be longer, and we did not see dolphins at that day. But overall I highly recommend this tour.

Everything was great! Jesse and Rachel were awesome. Very nice people, courteous and helpful throughout the trip. Jesse did a great job as captain and Rachel was a great tour guide. Loved everything about the trip worked out great. They gave us a small brunch and tons of water, then lunch which was delicious and right after kayaking. Worth the money would do again. Thank you for the great experience!

This was the most valuable and exciting experience I could have come across, I am sure of it. I could not recommend anything higher! Captain Jesse and marine biologist, Rachel, were in their element and happy to share their knowledge and history supporting the ecology and marine life in the Keys. They were incredible companions, introducing us to the ecosystems of this unique and protected island system, while keeping us hydrated and well fed! I fell in love with the ocean again, and can not wait to get back! Thank you Honest Eco, you really put your heart into sharing this treasured area with traveling souls.
