Richard and Paulo were fantastic at getting us around the Wicklow region. Richard was funny and very informative, often telling us of hidden ruins along the way. One example was the ancient enclosures upon the mountain that were highlighted because of the snow. We got to the Glendalough area and learned about the tower in the Monastic site. We then hiked our way to upper lake (1.4-1.6km). Do not miss out on this! I am sure if you ask the tour company, they can arrange a taxi to take you via the road to see the lake. The views were stunning even though the wind was trying to blow us over. Then, in my opinion, the best part of the whole tour was next. Watching the working sheep dogs! It was fantastic, and because we were there during Lambing season, we got to hold baby lambs (and a fiesty little puppy!) Micheal, the shepherd, was very informative about the whole process of herding, sheering and culling sheep. Unfortunately, the sheep are raised mostly for meat instead of their wool. The most mesmerizing part of our day was watching Maggie and 15 year old Dell work these sheep all with Micheal's whistles! We then went up the mountain for a photo stop right off the side of the road. We even had the lovely snow blowing down on us. We made our way down through the original Hollywood and into Kilkenny. Richard gave us some interesting facts about the Kilkenny castle and then we went down to the town hall, or the Tholsel. We were then told about herbest Alice and her poor maid, Patronella, and how one fled a witch Hunt while the other was burned at the stake. Kilkenny is a tiny Town and very easy to walk. We headed back to the restaurant above the Kilkenny design center for something to eat and to get a gander at the castle and the gardens once more. Richard was truly a fantastic guide and was dripping with historic facts.

I've done a tour with another local tour company and I can say hands down Wild Rover is the better of the two. You have a driver focused on the road while the guide gives plenty of details and history about Ireland.

Lovely itinerary with a delightful host! This tour was the perfect balance of guided and independent. The countryside was amazing and the sheepdog demonstration was a real treat.

The trip to Glendalough was particularly good and the guide certainly knew his history and it was a great trip. The visit to the monastic ruins was very good, and the demonstration of the Sheep Dog trials was fascinating. If only it had ended there. The trip to Kilkenny was just plain dreary and the town is uninteresting.

    A good trip.
    Very comfortable bus.
For what was planned there was enough time to see what we wanted without exaggeration.
The guide gave a lot of information, only if she spoke a little slower we would understand better.

A full day of touring, including walking around the wooded and beautiful Gendalough lakes, seeing numerous old castles and abbeys, a talented sheepdog demo, and a self-guided tour of Kilkenny Castle (a few Euros extra). Ashley was a very knowledgeable local guide. Buses were comfortable and had access to wifi. Well worth the money.

Our tour guide Aisling was absolutely amazing! Very knowledgeable, nice, and was very accommodating. Gave us great recommendations for our time back in Dublin as well. Our driver Sidney was also great, as the weather wasn't the greatest. Highly recommend anyone to book this trip.

Despite the rain. this was a great day. Kilkenny is a beautiful town with such a rich history. Richard (tour guide) did an amazing job at sharing all of the rich history and interesting stories with us. He was fantastic. Sean was an incredible driver as well (kept us safe in all the rain). Wicklow Mountains were beautiful. Was hoping to hike more but wasn't able to because of the weather, so I enjoyed some time indoors with a delicious Irish Coffee. And the Sheep Dog Trials were so fun. Loved learning about the sheeps and dogs. Great tour - would definitely recommend it.
