Know More about this tour

Start your small-group bike tour of Kyoto by cycling along the Kamo river, passing the many traditional restaurants that dot the waterfront. Youll get great views of the downtown area along this route.

Then, cycle to Heian-Jingu Shrine, a spiritual center of Japan. Note its impressive bright red torii (a sacred gate) and replica buildings of the old Kyoto Palace.

Make your way along the quaint canals to the Nanzenji Temple, a classic example of Zen Buddhism, and admire its stunning smaller temples. Take some time to sit and contemplate the natural beauty before heading down the Path of Philosophy.

Flanked by hundreds of cherry trees, the Path of Philosophy was named by Nishida Kitaro, one of Japan's most famous philosophers, who was said to practice meditation while walking this route on his daily commute to Kyoto university. Then return to Kyoto station.

Good view around parts of Kyoto we would not otherwise have visited (or spent a lot of time finding!) but our guide, Miyaki, was really powering around much too fast for us to appreciate the scenery, and I'm an in-shape 30 something who runs marathons. He would get so far ahead that the circumstances would change (by which I mean, the traffic light, or a line of schoolchildren would appear) and our group would have to navigate this by ourself. On one occasion we even lost him because he was so far ahead! So that was sort of persistently annoying. Otherwise it was a nice trip, just would have enjoyed it more with a different guide.

It was a lovely tour which took us around the quiet streets of Kyoto to visit temples and shrines. The bikes were well maintained. The route was very flat so easy cycling

We were taken to so many spots I just wouldn't have gone without this tour

Guide was very knowledgeable and even followed up the tour with an email confirming everywhere we visited!

Would recommend to anyone who visits Kyoto

Delightful evening tour, felt more like a local than a tourist walking through the cobbled streets of Kyoto - truly lovely guide Zen Horiuchi, his knowledge of Kyoto was weighted with great enthusiasm. He was incredibly generous with his time.

Despite the rain (they provided ponchos) it was still a fun and interesting tour and we got a good look around Kyoto

This was the best way to get an overview of Kyoto. It was nice to have an active tour that did not involve busses and walking. We rode our bikes across town and back along the river and to several shrines and temples. Our guide provided some background on the differences between Shinto and Buddhist practices which was helpful as we continued touring.
The tour does involve some uphill biking so you will definitely feel it in your legs if you are out of practice. Overall not too difficult though.

I love exploring new areas by bicycle, so this tour was the first thing I booked in Kyoto. It didn't disappoint! The tour guide, Leah, was excellent with her knowledge of the sights, the culture, and her willingness to share her views of life in Japan. Her English was also excellent. The tour covered ~20 km, and had great variety of sights, both natural, and historic. Highly recommended!

this is a unique and creative way of touring places. great for me! my compliments and profuse thanks to Kohei for giving a a great enlightening experience. perhaps, though, we can still improve it further by providing the customers a short written summary of the places we will be touring. and passing through. perhaps even a map of the route to make it easier to understand. but by and large, a wonderful experience for me and my wife. will do it again in a heartbeat.

Just returned home from my amazing trip to Japan and had a wonderful time with Yuta our guide on this bike trip. I hadn't ridden a bike for many years and had no trouble keeping up, except I had to keep stopping to take so many photos of the beautiful scenery. Thank you Yuta for a wonderful tour and your great company! Excellent guide and lots of fun touring this way! Cheers, Stephanie from Australia
