Know More about this tour

After morning pickup from your Bogot hotel, travel with your guide for about 45 minutes to the southern part of the East Hills, rolling lands of forest that are part of the Andean mountain range. As you listen to commentary about the local geology, head up a winding mountain pass with breathtaking views of cliffs and chasms. Then, drive by Choach, a colonial village with a lovely church in its town square.

Disembark in the countryside to begin your 3-hour round-trip hike of medium to high difficulty. First, follow your guide through verdant woodlands to El Chifln, pounding waterfalls sheeting off an escarpment. Scamper behind the raging cascade and feel its spray on your skin. If you like, take a dip in the turquoise pool of water at the base of the waterfall, and then refuel with a provided locally prepared snack.

Next, your guide takes you back into the forests, where youll huff your way for about an hour to La Chorrera waterfall. Pass by creeks and a diversity of plant and tree life, which your guide points out along the way, including bromeliads, orchids, juniper, sapodilla, cedar and mahogany. Youll hear the roar of La Chorrera before seeing it. Snap shots of the falls that are 1,936 feet (590 meters) tall, and relax for a while before hiking back to the vehicle.

Finish your day in La Candelaria, where youll dig into a delicious traditional lunch at a local restaurant. Depending on the menu, typical Colombian fare might include ajiaco (chicken and potato soup) or sancocho (beef, chicken or vegetable stew), along with side dishes of meat, chicken, rice and salad.

After a rewarding day in the countryside, youll be transported back to your hotel, or another place in Bogot if you prefer.

Please note: Throughout the day, youll be traveling and hiking at elevations ranging from 6,309 to 8,530 feet (1,923 to 2,600 meters) above sea level.

  • I had an excellent experience and the hike was beautiful. Very knowledgeable tour guide.

  • The views were amazing and the hike out was fun. That being said, the trail is very slippery, so if you are not prepared to fall, then don't go none of us slipped, but we saw others that did. We were picked up from our hotel and on our way to the falls we were offered some local cuisine, but had a big breakfast so only a taste. After the hike, we had a quick snack and then were treated to a nice meal back in Bogota. It can be cloudy, so be patient and wait for a view of the falls. Lots of great pictures and memories would do it again.

  • What a terrific day. An energetic hike to the waterfall but I was in good hands with my guide and driver.Guide was informed and very friendly. Both myself and the driver slipped in parts and ended up with very muddy jeans and filthy hands but it's part of the experience. Couldn't recommend this tour enough.

  • Great tour. Felipe did a great job explaining the area and was knowledgeable. Would definitely do this tour again.

  • The cardio workout on this trip should not be understated - certainly not the choice for the couch potatoes or persons who are not used to the altitude. Overall - we loved it - it was a really great day trip, and the scenery as incredible. Alejandro our guide was very good and very patient. Lunch option was a bit too rustic, but delicious!

  • This was a great hike! A little more challenging than I expected but the tour guide was happy to take breaks as needed. The scenery is beautiful and untouched and makes a great change of pace from Bogota without having to travel very far. The tour guides were very friendly and fun to hike with.

  • Our English speaking tour guide arrived at the hotel fifteen minutes ahead of schedule. He gave us a quick breakdown as to what would be expected. Alejandro was knowledgeable, courteous and he took us on a great half of day tour. We ended the tour with a transport back to our hotel but not before enjoy a traditional Colombian lunch at the nearby home of one of the locals. Only suggestion would be to let people know they should be in moderate health for this hike.

  • We had a great day hiking to the bottom of La Chorrera waterfall and then seeing El Chiflon on the way back. The trail was relatively easy with only a few steeper areas and we were lucky with the weather that it was not overly muddy. The trail was very well maintained and there were often steps/stones which made navigation much easier. Our guide Alejandro paced the hike well, especially with varying speeds of the hikers. He was knowledgeable about the trees and flowers we passed and was able to answer all of our questions.

The drive to the park entrance was very nice and our driver did an excellent job navigating all of the roads, including the unpaved sections.

Although only 30km from Bogota, it felt like we were much further away. This was one of our favorite days in Bogota!

  • One of my favorite guided tours in all my travels and it was thanks to our wonderful and knowledgeable guide, Andre. It felt like we were going on a hike with a friend who also happened to know lots of interesting information regarding the flora and fauna we encountered. A must do!!!

  • The hiking was challenging and the tour guide was awesome
