As my first opera, i was impressed with the performance, the music, and the booking / arrival. Nevertheless, much of the performance was difficult to enjoy due to the heat inside the church which meant multiple guests had to leave in between acts. At the same time, despite having close seats, the acoustics were not great and it felt rather quiet and unclear. This must have been worse for the people at the back.

This was a great opera experience in a beautiful church in Rome. Small setting and was able to enjoy a meal and drink just outside the venue when the show was over.

We had front row seats to La Treviata in Rome It was one of the hottest nights in Rome, so congrats to the performers and orchestra. We had googled the synopsis of the opera, which greatly assisted us following the performance. The Opera and music was fabulous. We thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a great way to end our visit to Rome. The church was a beautiful backdrop for a wonderful performance. Highly recommend attending!

  • 05-Jan-2023

The performers were great. The music was fantastic. Despite paying level 3 of 6 levels for the tickets, we were right up the back. The church pews were flat and the stage was not raised so we were really struggling to see anything.

We attended the performance at St. Paul within the Walls, which was a great venue for the acoustics. The performance was well done and very much enjoyed, especially the combination of the opera with the ballet. As English speakers, we couldn’t comprehend the words as there were no subtitles but this did not detract from the pleasant experience. During intermission, I just pulled out my phone and quickly read a synopsis of the first act. A post of the fun for us is that we decided to interpret the story through all that happening, but through a modern lens. We both felt the main character was dealing with the ravages a COVID. Maybe it hit a like too close to home because we were not too far off base. It ended up being tuberculosis. All in all, it was a very fun and entertaining evening. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would check out another opera if we return to Rome.
