Our guide Diego, was a wonderful person and by the end of the day I considered him a friend. He hung out with us all day showing us so many interesting things. Our day on this tour was our favorite part of Guatemala. It was the perfect day. Highly recommend!!!

Amazing tour!! Diego is great, he is very knowledgeable and knows where to take you. We had a very good experience from the time Diego picked us up to the time he dropped us off at the hotel.

This was overall a beautiful experience! However, we did not visit Panajachel as marketed. We simply took a boat ride to Santiago Atitlan, ate lunch there, and went back home. This did make the trip feel a bit rushed in comparison to what was outlined in the itinerary.

The views of the lake was nice. The ride to the lake was very long. We did not expect to be in a van for over 8 hours. I would not recommend this tour if you have back problems or don’t like bumpy roads. We would not book it again.

Very fun trip. Enjoyed the scenery and the tour guide and driver even though it was a bit winding the roads that is.

My tour guide Carmen was a magnificent tour guide. She knew so much about the Guatemalan and Mayan culture and was so friendly! This activity is worth every penny. It includes a day full of activities and you learn so much. You will finish the tour with a plethora of knowledge about the Guatemalan and Mayan culture and traditions! Not to mention the lake was a beautiful site to see. The only setback for me was that I had to buy 2 tickets since I am a solo traveler. I wish they offered tickets for one person. Other than that, it was wonderful! Go ahead and book this excursion!

Excellent experience to the famous Lake Atitlan. For the record, I get motion sickness and the drive there was very winding. However, upon arrival the lake was Excellent and lots of fun. Byron was a great guide and driver despite the terrain. He went out of his way to create a memorable experience for us. He was kind and eager to please. The only thing that we did not like is that we had to drive from Guatemala City to Antigua to pick someone up and then make our way towards the lake....it ended up being 4 hours because of this arrangement. The itinerary however is well recommended.

The lake was so beautiful and I enjoyed the boat ride with the scenery. The village was so colorful and it was fun to learn all about the different skills used in the Village. If you don’t mind a long drive to the lake I would definitely recommend.

Bring a neck pillow and seat cushion - ride is long and bumpy and depending on the traffic, getting back to Guatemala City can take as much as 5 hrs!

If you travel to Guatemala and are traveling with limited mobility like using a wheelchair, never book any trip with Guatemalan Adventure. In October, 2022 we and ten of our friends were on a cruise that stopped for a day in Guatemala. One of our party has limited use of her legs and uses a wheelchair. She can only walk with assistance. Trying to pre-plan a day adventure for our group, we contracted with Guatemalan Adventure for a trip to Lake Atitlan which included a boat ride to a village where we would have lunch and visit another village. We told them about the need for an accessible van and accessible boat entry and exit. They said they could accommodate us and we booked the trip. The trip was a disaster. The van was not accessible in any way. We helped Sheila on board and the wheelchair was folded down and placed in the walkway. If any need for a fast exit was required, the wheelchair completely blocked the exit. When we finally arrived at the lake, there was no way we could transport her to the boat or load her onto the boat. We were in port for about nine hours. The ride to the lake took close to three hours. The ride back would be the same. The boat was advertised as 1/2 hour each way. This would leave us with two hours to visit two villages and have lunch. We were going to miss the boat if we continued. We told the tour guide that the boat access would not work and that we would not return to our ship in time. We told them to pick another place for lunch and return us back to the ship. They complied and even with the shortened schedule we still returned early evening. They should have not sold us this trip! With no accessibility accommodations this trip was a $1,200 lunch ride with no access to community or local flavor. IF we went by their time line between the ride and boat that was six hours. That left three hours for lunch and the two village visits. There was no time for contingencies like traffic, mechanical or weather issues. And yes, weather was an issue in that one lane of the highway was washed out. If we had stayed any longer, it is unknown if the other side of the highway would be accessible. When the company was contacted they were not helpful. They suggested that we could have left Sheila at the dock and "The rest of the group could have taken the boat ride but they decided not to." They were right. We were not going to leave one of our group at a small untended boat dock while the rest of us proceeded with a boat ride, two village tours and lunch. This tour company should be sanctioned for what they did and if nothing else should never agree to take on people with limited abilities. What we learned from this experience: 1) Never to use Guatemalan Adventure. 2) Never book an excursion that takes you more than one hour from your ship.
