Horses and mules carry the food, camping equipment and your belongings up to 7 kg

During the trek to Machu Picchu your main luggage will be stored in Cusco and you will receive a small duffel bag (on the day of your briefing) to pack clothes for 3-4 days. Your team of porters will carry these bags together with the food and equipment for the trail. Please note that you will not have access to these items until the end of each day as the porters will always be ahead of the group, you should therefore bring a day pack in which you can carry personal belongings such as your camera, water and sunscreen. We enjoyed our inca trail hiking with the tour guide and porters. we really appreciate the knowledge of our guide Carlos.

We went on the traditional four day three night Machu Picchu trek through the Andes. It was everything I hoped it would be snd more. Our tour guide, Coco, and all of the porter‘s were amazing. Mario, the chef, and his two assistance made tremendous meals. Coco was incredibly informative and patient with us. The journey to Machu Picchu was as spectacular, if not more so, as Machu Picchu was. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Our 4D/3N Inca Trail Trek to Machu Picchu with Sam Travel was a journey we will cherish forever. Our guide Raymer was not only well-informed and knowledgeable but had an infectious love for the history of his ancestors which inspired us throughout the trek. His wit, humor, and genuine affection for his culture were heartwarming. Coupled with his deep respect and bond with the porters, it made our trek all the more special. We were a group of 7 from our family, joined by an amazing couple from Belgium, and together we formed a cohesive unit, much of which can be attributed to the environment fostered by our guides and porters. Grover, the other guide, was equally commendable. Always ensuring that our group was together, he was instrumental in helping my wife and daughter through some challenging stretches of the hike. His motivation, guidance, and supportive nature truly made a difference. The porters, led by the incredibly efficient Leonidas, ensured our journey was smooth and comfortable. Their attentiveness to our needs and their ability to seamlessly set up camp left us in awe. A special mention must be made for our chef, Julio César, who delighted us with a plethora of dishes that were not only delectable but also healthy. Every meal was a culinary treat that refueled our energy for the trek ahead. In conclusion, our experience with Sam Travel, especially under the guidance of Raymer and Grover, was impeccable. The support, love, and dedication of the entire team made our trek to Machu Picchu a memory we will always hold dear. If you're considering the Inca Trail, I highly recommend Sam Travel. Safe travels!

The 4 day Inca trail by SAM travel is a must do if you ever visit Peru! Our guides Grover and Miguel, the porters and the chefs made this trip amazing! The food we had were delicious we even had cake I’ll miss it a lot. We went on the trail during cold months but it’s still warm to sleep in and all campsites have flushing toilets.

We had the best time with Sam travels, our amazing guides Miguel and Grober, and all the fantastic porters. Everything went so smoothly, and we felt we were in good hands from start to finish. They cheered us on, especially during the tough climb up to dead woman’s pass, and made sure we always kept a pace that we were comfortable with, and also allowing for a lot of breaks in order to take in the full width of nature’s beauty. Great value for money! Would highly recommend.

Just finished a 4 day trek with great guidance from Grober on the challenging path. Grober had a great sense of supporting the personal pace of everyone, and even helped me carrying my daypack, when I strained my knee. Grober was very attentive to everyones needs, and he had great knowledge and passion for Inkaculture and the Andes flora and fauna, which he shared with us in the most engaging way. The full crew of porters and the chef was just amazing in putting up camp and serving amazing meals while keeping spirits high and cheering everyone when we reached camp after a long day on the track. I recommend SAM travels to everyone who dreams of hiking the inkatrail and visit Macchu Picchu!

Miguel was a super amazing guide with loads of experience and positive energy! He really made the trip very special for me and the entire group. The porters worked tirelessly to make the experience special and unique to us with delicious 3 course meals and catering to all our needs. Would highly recommend doing the Inca trail with them.

I was on the fence about which tour company to book for our 4 day Inca trek, and I’m SO glad I went with SAM travels. My husband and I were 100% taken care of by our guide Miguel. Our group was small (SAM maxes out groups at 8 people — not something that can be said about other tour companies), and everything about our 4-day experience was exceptional. The tents were roomy (large enough for my 6’3” husband to feel comfortable), the food was delicious, and the overall positive energy led by Miguel made the trek fun and adventurous. Totally recommend!

Had an incredible journey with Miguel on the 4 day and 3 night classic Inca Trail hike. It was amazing seeing many ruins and so much beautiful scenery along the way to Machu Picchu. Our guide and porters did a phenomenal job the whole trip. I cannot recommend SAM Travel enough. Buen Camino!

The Lares trek with Sam Travel was a great experience. Everyone on the team was friendly and helpful. Christian the tour guide made sure we had everything we needed. He was encouraging and always checking in to make sure we were happy. The chef and su chef Ever and Isaac cooked delicious food. There was more than enough to feed 5 adults and have plenty of left overs. I am so grateful for the horseman Jose and his family who carried all of our bags up the mountain so that we didn't have too. Last but not least the driver Fortuna was getting us where we need to go safely. I am grateful for everyone on the team that make this challenge hike a more pleasurable experience.
