Overview

The best way to see the Mona Lisa is without the crowds that almost always surround her. Because there is no way to get her all to yourself, we’ve done the next best thing: As the museum starts to close and everyone else rushes for the doors, we take advantage of the natural thinning of crowds. Entering at this time, you’ll find the room almost totally empty so you can get up close to the great lady for a peaceful 20 minute visit with your guide.. Of course you’ll see the best of the rest too. Before you see da Vinci’s masterpiece you’ll spend 2.5 hours viewing the very best artwork in the Louvre with an art historian, learning what makes these masterpieces so world-renowned.

Know More about this tour

As one of the world’s most famous paintings, the Mona Lisa rarely gets much peace. During regular visiting hours she is almost constantly mobbed by hundreds of people, severely compromising any time you get to spend with her. In order to avoid the crowds, we’ll take you to see her after most visitors have left and give you plenty of space to enjoy her beauty.

Tested and perfected through countless research trips, your itinerary inverts the normal Louvre route so that you save the Mona Lisa for last, just as the museum is closing. Before that you will enjoy a full 2.5 hours of art viewing, allowing you to see much more than other visitors who are on the normal tours that try to fit the rest of the museum into 1.5 hours.

During the tour, your guide will show you Louvre’s most treasured sights, including the historic foundations of the Kings’ palace moat, Greek and Roman sculptures like the ‘Venus de Milo’, ‘Cupid & Psyche’, and Michelangelo’s ‘Slaves’; and many of the greatest works ever created by French artists such as ‘Liberty Leading the People’ by Delacroix and ‘The Raft of Medusa’ by Géricault. You’ll also see France’s old crown jewels, the world famous ‘Winged Victory’ monument, and works from Italian painters like Caravaggio, Raphael, and da Vinci.

There are many ways to see the Louvre, but only one way shows you all the best works and gets you in front of the Mona Lisa after most of the crowds have left. Your guide takes care of all the time and logistics so all you have to do is enjoy the art.

  • Our Guide, gave us such a fabulous tour of the Louvre! We saw an incredible amount of art work and learned so much history as we worked our way through from the ancient moats below to the Mona Lisa above. Bravo!

  • Our guide Lilly was engaging . She entertained and educated us by giving modern comparisons and history that really helped our children to put things into context they understood. They learned while not knowing they were being taught it was a wonderful experience. Also well timed to get to the monilia a at the last moment.

  • What an amazing experience. Violette was an amazing tour guide. She very knowledgeable and passionate about the art and History of the Louvre. Her explanation of the works was outstanding and there wasn't anything I asked she didn't know. The tour is a highlight tour and 3 hours is definitely not enough time for the whole museum. But we received a crash course in art history for all the main pieces of art and have really come out of the experience with an amazing and knowledge filled appreciation for the Palace. The room for the Mona Lisa at the end had maybe 20 people in it and it was really a nice finish the tour.

  • A 'must do' location while in Paris, this place is massive beyond belief. We were excited to have a guide to help us get oriented as well as the skip-the-line nature saved at least an hour!. Josephine was brilliant, fun, delightfully pleasant and just a wonderful tour guide. She memorized every name of our small group - about 12 of us in just one effort. She then took us on a not-rushed, full of information tour with plenty of time at the key exhibits. Finally we ended with the Mona Lisa. The room is huge, the painting relatively small. Normally it is packed but with the timing here we spent about 15 minutes right at the front rail with no pushing, shoving or other hand-to-hand combat. Easy to look at her, take a family photo or even a selfie! Strongly recommend this tour and do your best to get Josephine Napolean's ex wife! as your guide - she was just brilliant!

  • On the day I went arriving late in the day provided little benefit. We did not see the Mona Lisa with a small group though I did get close. She is an amazing lady. The museum was packed, hot and noisy which made listening to the guide difficult. Our guide was very knowledgeable, helpful and pleasant. We were a small group which helped some with the crowds. I learned a great deal without being overwhelmed by information. It was good value for money but my advice would be to skip the Louvre on very hot days if you are there to enjoy the art.

  • Guide took way too much time chit-chatting and we did not get to see much of the museum at all. Our time at the Mona Lisa was very limited and we were shuffled out of the museum at closing time. The ONLY benefit of this tour is the skip the line entry.
