Your tour begins with being picked up from curbside of the terminal building's atrium by an air-conditioned minivan. Your luggage is allowed with 1 checked piece per person. You will then be on your way to a 3 to 4-hour bird sanctuary tour.
With your driver, you will head to the bird sanctuary where you will board an open flat-bottomed boat for a guided tour with a very knowledgeable and experienced tour guide. You will also be given life vests and the boats are all certified and registered. You will be guided through a maze of serene waterways where you will be pointed out myriad species of plant life, trees, birds, caiman, snakes and other amazing wildlife. The "big show" is when the country's national bird, the scarlet ibis, comes in to roost just as the sun is beginning to set. These birds are a very bright red and it is a very spectacular sight in the evening sky, so make sure you binoculars and cameras are ready!
You will be picked up at the airport at 3:00 pm and the tour begins at 4:00 pm. It lasts about 2 and a half hours after which you have to option of returning directly to the airport or we have a bar stop option if you wish to visit a local bar for some drinks. You will then be returned to the airport to catch your flight out of Trinidad.
