Know More about this tour

Meet your guide in early morning at the Roma Termini railway station and head out to enjoy the very best of the Amalfi Coast without having to worry about the logistics. From the winding streets of quaint, cliffside towns, to sparkling blue waters and picturesque hilltop farms youll see, touch, taste, and experience this incredible region like never before.

The day starts in Rome where youll catch a high speed train to Naples with an intimate group of no more than 15 fellow travelers and an expert tour leader. From there youll hop on a private, air-conditioned bus that will wind its way up into the narrow roads of the Amalfi Coast.

Your first stop is Positano, a small fishing town that has long been the holiday destination of choice for VIPs, from the Romantic poets of the 19th century to todays Hollywood stars. After an orientation Walk with your guide through Positano youll have two hours of free time in which you can browse the boutiques filled with world-famous beachwear, have leather sandals made to fit your feet and/or enjoy a relaxing lunch of local delicacies at a seaside cafe. Dont forget to bring your swimsuit too, theres nothing nicer on a summers day than a dip in the sea.

Next youll board a boat for a 30-minute ride down the coast to Amalfi town. Along the way youll enjoy spectacular views of the dramatic coastline as it rises out of the sea in soaring cliffs.

At Amalfi youll head up one of those cliffs to a lovely lemon orchard where youll enjoy a tasting of one of the regions most beloved products, the sweet, tangy liqueur called limoncello. The farm is perched above the town and offers stunning views out to sea. After the tasting youll have an hour to explore the town and, if you enjoyed your tasting, buy some limoncello.

To end the day youll hop back on the boat for a 40-minute cruise to Salerno where youll catch the train back to Rome.

  • What an amazing tour! This was our first trip to Italy, where we rented an apartment in Rome for the week, and spent one full day in Amalfi on this tour. If I had it to do all over again, I would have spent one day in Rome and the rest of the week in Positano and Amalfi, it was such a beautiful place! Our tour guide Luca was great. He met us at the Termini train station in Rome and was very friendly, knowledgeable, and organized. The tour group was small maybe 8-10 people total, so it still had a very intimate and personal feel to it. The high speed train took us from Rome to Naples in a little over an hour. The train ride was comfortable and scenic. From Naples, Luca directed us to a van that took us to Sorrento. Our driver was great and handled the curvy, winding roads like a pro. Along the way Luca pointed out many interesting sights and facts, such as Mt Vesuvius, the island of Capri, and interesting facts about all the olive and lemon trees along the way. Once we arrived in Positano, we had about 2 hours to roam around town on our own. Positano was absolutely amazing, with lots of great restaurants, shops, and local charm. We had a terrific lunch here based on Luca's recommendation, and every picture looks post card perfect.
From Positano, Luca boarded our group onto a boat/ferry that took us to Amalfi. It was a very unique vantage point to view Positano and all the coastal towns along the way. In Amalfi, we climbed to the top of a cliff to visit a lemon tree farm. It was quite a hike climbing all the steep steps but well worth the visit and the views. There was a lady in our group that was in her mid/late 60's that was able to make the climb, so don't let the steep terrain intimidate you. Once at the top, we met the family that owns the lemon tree farm, and they explained to us how their farm works and how important lemons are to the local economy. The lemons can weigh up to 5 pounds each, and the lemon peel is sweet instead of bitter, so you can actually eat the lemon peel! We were given fresh lemons, lemon water, limoncello, and lemon cake to sample, all of which were delicious. The views of Amalfi from the top of the lemon tree farm are spectacular. After the lemon tree farm, we still had about 45 minutes to explore the town on our own. You also had the choice to skip the lemon tree farm and just spend all of your time in the town on your own, but we enjoyed the lemon tree farm experience. Amalfi has a lot of great shops hint-buy some lemon infused olive oil to take home with you wish I had bought more!. My wife had a pair of sandals custom made for her while we waited. Lots of great restaurants as well the best seafood I have ever had.
From Amalfi, Luca boarded our group onto another ferry that took us to Salerno, where we had another 45 minutes of free time. In Salerno, we found a little café and had coffee and fresh sfogliatelle, which is a delicious flaky pastry that is very popular in this area. Luca also pointed out a local shop that sold a unique type of high quality pasta that is not easily found in the USA, so we bought some to take home with us. We boarded the high speed train in Salerno and had a relaxing ride back to Rome. Luca had purchased some buffalo mozzarella cheese, wine, and olives for all of our group to snack on during the train ride back to Rome. Once back at Termini Station, Luca was kind enough to direct my wife and I to the correct metro platform so that we could safely return to our rental apartment. I would highly recommend this tour, the Amalfi coast was the highlight of our trip to Italy!

  • We loved it!

  • Great day trip! Packed so much into one day, but never rushed or overwhelmed. Marta was a fabulous tour guide. Personable, friendly and ready with advice for anything you may want to do. The tour let you experience fast speed train as well as bus and boat...so a little of everything! Nice amount of time is Positano and Amalfi on your own to explore, shop and eat. Limoncello tasting was informative as well as tasty, be prepared to walk a lot of stone stairs! Had time in Amalfi to eat on your own, but wish there was the option of having lunch arranged with the group, so you didn't waste time and got to socialize with other people on the tour with you. Highly recommend this day trip!!

  • Our guide, who I can't remember his name was really good. Very knowledgeable and funny. Very good tour

  • Beautiful! Great day, and jam packed with a full schedule. Recommend this tour!

  • Positano is amazing coast town but you only get about an hour to explore. Wish for longer time. Limoncello tasting was disappointing you climb 210 steps get this gorgeous view of Amalfi, but don't even get a full shot glass of limoncello! You get a sliver in a plastic shot glass. They do provide a piece of lemon cake and a pitcher of lemon water per table. Tour name was Limoncello Tasting I expected Andre of a tasting. Maybe change the name to lemon farm tour. If you do this tour opt for the free time in Amalfi over the tasting it will give you a better memory

Guides were great. Well organized and knowledgeable of the places and things to see.

  • Nice trip.. Thank you Rihana for being our guide...

  • This was our best Viator tour of the four we purchased. It's well worth the cost. The guide was attentive from pickup to getting our ride back to our hotel. The trip up the lemon grove was the highlight of tour

  • Just an amazing well organized day. So many different facets of the Amalfi coast in one day. We cannot rate this tour highly enough. If we could, we would give it 6 stars!

  • Let me first say...Hugo--awesome tour guide! This was a wonderful tour which I would highly recommend. The tour of the lemon farm was my favorite part...lots of steps, but they went slowly (and gave people the option of shopping instead). scenery, shopping, limoncello, and of course, Hugo!
