Know More about this tour

Start your day trip with a hotel pickup, and then leave the Algarve by air-conditioned coach to travel north to Lisbon, capital of Portugal. The journey lasts just more than 3 hours from the main starting point, so sit back and relax as you travel north alongside the Portuguese coast.

Hop off your coach on entering the city and set out to explore Lisbons enchanting streets with your guide. The hilly city is one of Portugals most attractive towns with its pretty red-roof houses dotted around the snaking River Tagus. Admire the architecture around the neighborhood of Belm and learn about Lisbons history as you walk.

Stop for photos at Belm Tower, a monument built to honor the citys patron saint, and then head inside the UNESCO World Heritage site of Jernimos Monastery. A star city attraction, the monastery is often cited as the perfect example of Manueline architecture, a uniquely Portuguese-Gothic style that originated during King Dom Manuel Is reign. Admire the extravagant ornamentation and carved arches, and learn about the different areas of the monastery. After your audio tour finishes, head outside and visit Alfama where the charms of old-school Lisbon can be seen.

A labyrinth of atmospheric streets and palm-shaded courtyards, the neighborhood is a bustling place where the humdrum activities of daily life seem more dramatic amid the backdrop of its historical buildings. Amble around the quarter and see Roman and Moorish architecture as well as the Castle of So Jorge: Lisbons attention-grabbing hilltop castle.

Enjoy a break for lunch (own expense) and make the most of some free time to discover the citys delights for yourself. Perhaps seek out a cafe selling pastis de nata, the eponymous Belm custard tarts, or shop for Lisbon souvenirs to take home.

  • It was a lovely day and the tour guide was very knowledgable. Given that we only had two breaks in Lisbon, the first one around the Monastry for 1.5 hours and the second one for 3.5 hrs, I teamed up with another traveller and we rented a Tuck-Tuck. We have probably seen more than most of our fellow passengers and it was a lovely and fun experience, except from the fact that I could not have climbed up all the mountaineous streets in Lisbon and see all what I wanted to in 3.5 hrs. Our tour guide took us two other vista points in Lisbon Alfama being one than the Sao George Castle, where you pay entry fees and where a restaurant is. So we left that for another time. We have seen roman ruins, walked through Alfama and have been to churches. It was a fun and lovely afternoon.

  • I very much enjoyed the day trip to Lisbon. It was well worth the trip.
One cautionary note to everyone who would like to take this day trip is that the pick-up and drop-off from all the hotels takes THREE hours. Plus the drive back-and-forth to lisbon is six hours, and so you will only get three to four hours to see the city.

  • The Trip was good for a day trip. As others have mentioned, it was quite a bit of driving most of the day was spent on the bus but for the price, you really can't beat it. There are a few hours in the day for you to wander around the city on your own, but it goes by fast, and Lisbon is definitely a city that needs more time to enjoy. The tour guide did a good job of giving information on the city as we drove through.

  • This tour was amazing!

  • We took this trip from Quarteira, Portugal. Our pickup was right on time. Tour guide was very informative and the short orientation at drop off point in Rossio Square was beneficial. We enjoyed our free time. We will use Viator again.

  • The tour guide Ana was excellent and very helpful. i used this trip to take advantage of the transportation from Albufeira to lisbon, and learn about the main stops. I then stayed on in Lisbon, but think the transportation and itinerary with guide was and excellent option.

  • A very good day trip to a beautiful city
